Klance Reunion + Season 4 Headcanon?
I guess season four (*cough* 3B *cough*) still got me shook so here’s some headcanon.
- Just because Keith joined the Blade of Marmora didn’t mean that he completely cut off his communication with the Voltron team. Even if it was mostly because the Blade and Voltron worked very close together in their fight against the Galra Empire.
- So really he would speak with Shiro when the Blade + Voltron would team up and would also be present when there was an information meeting but other than that not much.
- Of course, the Paladins and Coran noticed the difference, how Keith went from leading some of these meetings with Shiro to instead stand quietly to the side (sometimes he wouldn’t even take off his mask so the team didn’t even know if he was actually there or not)
- The longer this went on the more Lance would worry about their previous Red Paladin. He saw first hand how Keith fell apart when Shiro wasn’t there and he had no one to really talk to, so how was he coping with the BoM when Lance knew there was no one to look out for him?
- and if he would turn to his side sometime when they were meeting in the control room expecting to see a certain moody teen and instead meet air, or feel a little empty when he would crack a joke with Pidge, Hunk, and Matt and didn’t hear an annoyed snort among the laughter wasn’t really that important right now.
- Everybody tried to ignore the missing piece in the Castle, that was until they found out about what Keith almost sacrificed in the battle on Naxzela. Maybe Matt made a fleeting comment about Keith being crazy self-sacrificing when they were all hanging out together; the dead silence that followed leading to a deeper explanation of what really happened. Maybe when Lotor was trying to goad Keith while he was taking up residence in the Castle and commented with “don’t forget I saved your life, ex-paladin.” Either way, Lance was enraged, probably more so that he couldn’t march up to the training deck and force some sense into his stupid teammate
- Instead, Lance corralled Pidge into upgrading his Altean-smartphone thing so that he was able to contact Keith directly (when she informed Matt of what she and Lance were doing Matt asked her why she didn’t badger Lance with questions on why, but she told him that it really wasn’t worth it with her idiot friends)
- When Lance was finally able to get through to Keith he was so ecstatic just to hear his voice (Lance didn’t realize how much he really missed Keith) he almost forgot why he wanted to talk to him in the first place
- Lance remembers when he came to visit Keith’s room all those nights ago, worrying about his position on the team when Allura showed that she was a much better Blue Paladin than he was, and how Keith reassured him with one of the softest smiles Lance had seen from the other and the guarantee that everything would work out in the end…now after everything that happened Lance really hoped that the conversation they had didn’t have any effect on his decision to leave
- Even though Lance’s initial reason to contact Keith ended in a fairly quick conversation (something that sounded like an embarrassed laugh from the other end of the com and a swift change of topic; Lance could’ve been more angry with the obvious dismissal but he was too excited to hear Keith’s soft timber) they still continued to contact each other, whether Keith would go off if his ass got handed to him in his Blade training or Lance explaining another show that Voltron had to pull off for the Coalition
- No one knew about their nightly conversations, and Lance wasn’t in any hurry to let that piece of information out to the others. He didn’t like to think too hard about why, it was just nice to have this little secret between the two of them, something that the intergalactic war could not get in between. Until it did
- Of course, soon an important infiltration mission came up with the BoM, one which left Keith MIA for a long stretch of time. Long enough that Lance would go to bed every night hoping to hear the ring that would mean Keith was trying to reach him.
- Keith and a handful of other Blades were gone long enough that Voltron finally had to get involved, and while they never ran into direct contact with Keith the mission was a success, another area freed from Galra control and a huge setback for Zarkon
- When they all met up at the Blade HQ Lance and the team were buzzing with excitement to finally see Keith in the flesh, but as they met up with the Blades there was no time for reunions as Kolivan launched right into a debriefing.
- Well….at least for everyone other than Lance. He did a quick sweep of the room and, other than Kolivan, the other Blades’ faces were covered. Lance let a huff out under his breath, he didn’t understand why now out of all times Keith was being shy (then again he hadn’t really met with everyone in person since his decision to leave Voltron) but, looking to the side at a smaller statured soldier with his arms crossed in a stance that Lance had ingrained into his mind.
- Lance would march across the room, not caring as the conversations slowly died down and all eyes turned to him and the Blade starting to fidget in front of him. Slowly raise his hand to the Blade’s face, stopping a hairs breathe away in a silent request to lower the mask to be able to touch skin to skin. All of the sudden all the stress from the previous hours/days rush over him and as soon as glistening grey eyes met his he leaned down to connect their lips.
- Lance heard the gasp and whispers from his friends and BoM members behind him but he couldn’t care less as shaking arms wrapped around his upper arm and waist.
.
.
tl;dr Lance and Keith somehow fall into a long distance relationship and Lance can pick his pouty boyfriend out from a crowd of purple soldiers.
Thanks to anyone that stuck around to this point <33
