Hi! I love you stories, and honestly I’m addicted to your style of writing as an author. Not a big fan of black butler but read it because it was your story. Anyways, do you think the volturi hosts balls/galas and if so, how would Jessica ( human or vampire) fit in to the whole fiasco.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏!!! Aww woah, I always feel honoured by asks like this 😭😭😭❤️
Hmm, I think in the past they did and they mingled freely with the humans (the upper class at least) seeing Francesco Solimena painted them overlooking a revelry. But in the modern days, no. Perhaps they do with vampires, but not with humans anymore.
For me, even if they do host something akin to a gala/ball it’d very..formal and not as exciting as ones with humans and very, very rare. With vampires, you have to send out a invitation (how are secretaries going to track down nomads? Unless they send Demetri out just to say ‘hey, we’re having this little get-together at this date and time in the castle, RSVP?’ I don’t think they’d send Demetri out for something so trivial and ‘wasting’ his gift), limited number of vampires in the world and it’d be quite boring because the law dictates they stay away or limit their interaction with humans to very necessity so there won’t be much to talk about because Aro probably knows everything that’s going on in the vampire community. Besides, Volturi’s are respected yet feared throughout the world so some might not even enjoy this ‘party’.
So whatever audience Volturi holds with other vampires won’t be like ball/galas but something like that nomad case with Alec and Jane - where the passing nomad alerted Aro of human Alec and Jane’s extraordinary powers. From time to time, vampires will hold audience with Aro, Caius and Marcus to deliver any information of interest whether it’d be gifted humans, suspicions in regard to both vampires/humans, human advancements in technology/weaponry, vampire wars/conflicts etc., anything that needs to be investigated or considered.
My headcanon on how they got passed fraternising with humans is that the guide states vampires’ eyes darkens the more time they go without blood and this process takes one to two weeks before the eyes are turned completely black. Perhaps this is what they did? Waited until their eyes were not so crimson - this doesn’t mean they waited full 1-2 weeks because they don’t want to take the risk and only very few that could be trusted to control themselves were allowed to join - just waited until it darkened to acceptable, passable human eyes colours. Seeing crimson is faded to black, I think the darkening of colours could be something like: crimson --> burnt umber (or something like no. 12)--> dark brown (no. 11) --> coal black.
And the process of going from crimson to no.12 could take as short as three days or five days but less than a week or little over a week.
I reckon this might be different to individual vampires by the vague timeline so we could say maximum is 2 weeks that every vampires would be expected to have black eyes but not everybody will have black eyes by the 1st week of abstaining from blood.
Is it because some vampires have faster metabolism? Could it be that those who are gifted needs more blood/metabolise blood faster?
For me, I think this could be one of few physiological differences between each vampires Like humans, we all have different calorific needs, athletes needs significantly higher amount of calories to fuel both their sports performance and their growth.
In vampires, using or even simply the act of having gifts itself takes more of their energy compared to average vampires with no gifts.
Another could be their activity levels, in order of feeding frequency: nomads > semi-nomads (someone who stays in area until they need to move out for whatever reasons i.e. humans suspicion usually) and vegetarians > a vampire with fixed abode/territory (i.e. Volturi).
Age? In humans, as we get older, the number of calories needed is usually less than when we were younger because basic body processes require less energy when there is a decline in physical activity and loss of muscles.
If we adapt this into vampires, younger/newborns are mentioned to have:
insatiable hunger for blood which diminishes as they get older
always stronger than older ones, since their strength derives from the lingering human blood left in their body from their human life.
So with this fact, we could surmise that the older the vampires, the better their control of thirst and could also limit the frequency of feeding to necessity if they wish so. So Marcus, Aro, Caius, Demetri, perhaps Felix, Chelsea, Corin, Renata, Heidi and perhaps the Wives were those who were allowed to interact with the humans in the balls/galas they hosted in the past. Modern humans are more likely to Instagram, Tweet, Facebook, Snapchat these unusually beautiful vampires and suddenly every modelling agencies are searching for them online, uploading snapshots asking their followers to help find out about them. Alec and Jane? Young, yet to debut in the society, less certain on the control they have around humans and their general disinterest in adult affairs meant they never interacted with humans on personal level.
