Going through old pictures - European bumblebee hover fly (Volucella bombylans f. plumata, male imago) - they're called bumblebee giant in dutch, i'm not sure about the common name in english - feel free to correct me, i saw this one floating around !

V. bombylans has different colour forms, of which three are common in the low countries, this is the plumata form, a mimic of the Bombus terrestris group !
