A New Adventure: AIESEC Greece

After I graduated at the beginning of this year I was very unsure of what the future would look like for me; I had a more or less blank year ahead of me. Because I was struggling with my choice of a master I hadn’t yet enrolled in a continued education and I was losing my place in Amsterdam because it was part of my university campus. I moved back with my parents and spent my summer doing small trips with my friends. Not having a plan for the future made me feel lost and a little scared, but all the freedom that I had was amazing. It allowed me to travel around and see my friends all around the world. But after awhile I decided that I had to start doing something again and I remembered this organisation that had come to my university during my final year to explain about their volunteering projects and internship opportunities: AIESEC.

I decided to have a look at the opportunities they offered and applied to one of their volunteering projects. The project was in Greece, more specifically in Pireaus, Athens. It is called Grandma’s Kindergarden project and is aimed at eliminating xenophobia at an early age and opening children up to the world by showing them other cultures. Because I strongly believe that children are the future and knowledge and curiosity towards others lead to a more respectful and open-minded world I applied and I got it (yay!). I want to share my experiences with AIESEC, but also in Greece more generally, here on this blog so I will updating on this soon!
