I'm sure there's some handwave for this like "our sun only puts out one specific wavelength of light that annoys Sentients", but it's still a bit unintuitive how the nocturnal faction also has an affinity for lasers and player-blinding amounts of bloom.

VOMVALYST

(Due to the nature of the Sentients, some mild Warframe story spoilers may be ahead.)

“Ahuhuhuh. Dude, did you see that Tenno? She was, like, totally on fire. Ahuhuh.”

Am I wrong, though? The Vomvalyst totally looks like it's squinting at all times, and the vaguely skeletal nose-hole gives it the impression of some kind of stoned skull. It's a very bizarre visual after the only vaguely humanoid rod fests of the first three Sentient designs. There are a lot of extraneous little details that serve mostly as visual clutter in what is already a rather busy design. The Battalyst and Conculyst were both covered in nodules and lights like this, but they had enough space to allow the large swaths of colored stripes to make the design look good. Here, they're all kind of crammed into one space, with eleven different details trying to say twelve different things. Going top to bottom: The steeple on top of its head; the weird hollow horn thing; the axolotl gill looking antennae; the bulbous eyes with unneccesary detail; the inscrutable almost dreadlocks made of wires in the back; the gaping nose and cheekbones that are clearly meant to invoke a head; the "tongue" (???) that hangs down with lights studded all over; and the wiggly Sliver-like arm tentacle things. Was that a train wreck to read? Because it's a train wreck to look at. None of the details flow into one another. The eyes are round, but the head is a skull? There are three kinds of horns WITH hair on a disembodied head? All I can get from its design is, after staring at it for longer than any other Warframe player probably has, that it's a head, and even then I’m not so sure.

I’m actually not a huge fan tbh

I’ve always liked this idea of Hunhow as a genderless momdad space crab/starfish that alone birthed his children - the quotes from him during Natah iirc kinda hinted at that imo.

I’m not sure why this new sentinent is referred to as Mother so far, but i’m hoping it’s more of a title than a role - she appears to be a sentinent outpost, ones we saw concept arts for in Tennocon 2017, so it could make sense to call a protective, massive and ancient creature like her Mother. Perhaps even Hunhow would call her that. maybe she is a primordial mother of all of the species.

Who knows, but i’m probably gonna be disappointed because DE loves their mother-concepts over everything.

Some art, i had actually drawn this like last month and was gonna post later, but it fits the theme here.
