James was going to kill him.
Ozma may be debating killing the both of them, if each heavy step was reluctance instead of exhaustion and his right leg- it was always the right leg- refusing to bend quite right. Likely whatever damage a tower’s worth of rubble had done wasn’t healing correctly, but just has he didn’t have time to try and decipher the immortal’s feelings on his admittedly terribly idea, he couldn’t stop long enough to recover fully.
Not until he was in a secure position where he could regroup with at least one of his prominent allies, at the very least.
“Excuse me.” Were he a younger- and in turn, more proud- man, he would have swallowed the pain and tried to hide how he leaned on his cane. He may have even tried to use his aura or Ozma’s magic as a crutch, but now he would waste no power or advantage, in case this were to turn to a fight. "I don’t suppose you are taking new...jobs at the moment?”
