Please don’t let your apathy or assumptions lead us to a republican led recall on @gavinnewsom @cagovernor. It seems absurd, but trust me- the spreadnecks aka anti vaxx and anti maskers will be voting. You should have received your ballot by now- so #justsayno - you may not love newsom- but if you like your LGBTQ+ friends having rights and protections- or @potus having a majority in the senate- you need to vote because it’s a slippery slope my friends…… I’m sure there are lots of other very important reasons to vote against the recall- but it’s Friday evening and my brain has left the building- so this is what I’ve got. edward knew this was coming.  he didn’t   need   to read minds to see the growing  fury  on his adopted sister’s face.  so when he hadn’t   b o t h e r e d   to address her individually like he  normally  would amidst the family meeting.  what she had to say didn’t need to come out in front of  everyone.  it wouldn’t help the situation,  and it wouldn’t   H E L P.  so instead after the family had filed into the living room,  and edward told them about his  ...  situation,  he simply left.  he’d already decided to keep himself farm more regularly  fed  than he typically did.  just to be   s a f e.  and while his eyes remained gold,  they were darkening.  the shade nearing  brown.  despite the fact he knew he could still control himself,  he didn’t want to risk it.  not with her.  

so he  r u n s.  but he knows he isn’t alone,  so he is  careful  to not run at full speed,  only stopping once he is out of hearing range of the house.  he comes to a sudden stop,  not bothering to turn around to face her.  he   t i l t s   his chin and stares straight ahead before he speaks,  his tone   resigned  in anticipation of her answer,       ❛       you   obviously   have something to say,  so just  SAY  it.       ❜

AMBER EYES NOTICED HER - his life, his love, his savior - standing there in silence, propped up against the railing of the balcony. It looked as though she was the only person in the universe, contemplating some great meaning to it all. He approached slowly, footsteps silent against the floorboards until he was mere inches away from her, close enough to smell the scent shampoo in her hair. Emmett’s hand reached out and found its home at her waist, gripping just light enough to be reassuring. 

A gesture of presence - he was there, and he always would be. Probably the only good thing about having a story with no ending: having someone to share the pages with you.

He stood there for a few moments, taking in the feeling, before he noticed the look on her face. He’d had decades to study that face - every muscle movement, the slightest puckering of lips. Emmett’s mouth had barely opened to ask her what she was thinking about before she finally spoke. 

An unneeded breath filled and left his lungs, hand snaking behind her back as he took a step to the side, standing next to her rather than behind. He kept his eyes on her, eyebrows furrowing slightly. ❝ Hey, ❞ he said, giving her side a tighter squeeze. His voice was quiet, soft. Usually, he’d come up with some not-so-clever line, something stupid to try and get her to laugh. To see the smile that he’d fallen in love with so quickly. This didn’t feel like one of those times.

❝ We’ve got all the time in the world. We can make this story as happy and as cheesy as you want it to be. Don’t go putting it down yet. ❞
