Visions of the Hereafter is an original story that belongs to @liontamarin! GO CHECK IT OUT! I'm obsessed with his characters and will continue to spread propaganda about them all.

finally officially introducing some MORE guys to the cast of VotHa...horsemannn edition!! i have been WAITING to get to these guys. the second set of siblings with many problems and issues <3 both pestilence and war have specific connections to both zenith and brisa, respectively, so they get put together.
the four pillars of mortality, more colloquially known as the four horsemen, are fundamental in overseeing different domains of mortality, in which smaller medium departments devoted to more niche aspects of death and the afterlife either fit under or can collaborate with. however, fitting into atalanta's life after the rebellion proves to be more than a bit difficult for all four of them, and in vastly different ways. pestilence, aka "pesty," couldn't care less about preparing atalanta for "responsibility"—that's a kid, let her be a kid! let's think about the consequences later! how bad could that be? but war thinks otherwise. it's not like atalanta can just shake off the entire world she represents overnight. not without even more people getting hurt in the process.
...and, well, it certainly doesn't help that pesty's got some unresolved baggage about zenith. or that war's gotten herself into a fairly complicated relationship with brisa. boy, that better not lead to some messy entanglements with how these two mentor atalanta! sure would hate for that to happen!! the fate of the underworld is kind of in this fifteen year old's hands now...and also these maladjusted forty-somethings. tough luck, huh? let's just hope they're up for the task...

HEY HEY!! REAL happy to say i'll be participating in ARTFIGHT for the first time EVER this year!!! #myfossil 🦴🥳
gimme a follow!!! >:) same handle. i'm on there @ liontamarin !!! excited to fight!! 👊🏾💥🖌️
i lend a hand, it breaks, i see their heads shaking, deja vu, return to blue— even in my dreams, i can't win!
the next set of guys i wanna introduce for VotHa!! meet brisa, the medium's head statistician, and her infamous, long-dead brother, zenith. for the adult cast, at least, Visions is a very siblings-focused story...and much of the cast's relationships with one another revolves around how they viewed zenith, especially for brisa. Everything Is This Guy's Fault!!!!
the (under)world of this universe operates as a bureaucracy: different departments of the medium handle different aspects, means, and sometimes even interpretations, of death and the afterlife. above all of that, though, stand the recordkeepers: the head statistician and the head librarian, who compile information encompassing all departments. they're both usually hereditary positions given to the current ruler's siblings...head statistician brisa, however, is in quite a tricky position: she's currently interim head necromancer, alongside her usual duties, picking up the mess that her brother's trial and resulting political unrest has left behind...
suddenly handed the responsibility of raising a child to be an heir well-respected enough to repair the public image of the petaloudas after both zenith's execution and atalanta's parents getting assassinated, she's called for the assistance of the horsemen, four powerful siblings and medium officials who knew zenith quite well, in training atalanta. little did she know that despite their well-deserved reputations as powerhouses, they're...far more eclectic than she'd bargained for. and also just as inexperienced with children as she is. and have essentially become yet another responsibility to handle on brisa's already-full plate.
as atalanta uncovers more about the baggage zenith left behind, however, both physically and emotionally, perhaps her mentors could be of some use to her...and brisa, too, potentially, if the two ever manage to get past their rocky relationship with one another...and if brisa ever manages to get past hers with zenith. maybe as the last two survivors of the royal bloodline, they'll teach each other a few things about their family name...eventually.
(check out the sheets for atalanta & kris here if you want more context on this story!!)
WOAHHH here we go. officially introducing the last two of the horsemen in VotHa!! aka the last two of atalanta's Maladjusted Middle-Aged Mentors™, and keepers of some pretty big secrets...let's hope they're normal about this (they're not).
while his sisters pestilence and war are both quite loud and outspoken, famine prefers to observe rather than contribute to most conversations—especially those involving zenith's trial. and while brisa's just fine with that, war isn't. does he just not...care about the consequences the nobles are dealing with of the rebellion? the consequences his siblings are dealing with? it's tempting to assume, but then...why is he so weirdly good at his job? why's he so protective of atalanta? why's he so into healing magic that he took it upon himself to learn it outside of his other duties? and...what in the world is he carrying in those weird bags all the time? regardless of the answers, famine seems to know much more than he lets on. hopefully, he isn't keeping anything too important from the others...
...though, if anything big did happen with the horsemen, it would technically be up to their all-powerful leader, death, to resolve it. except, uh. said all-powerful leader is a neurotic freak, a big crybaby, and an awful, awful wimp. and the current political climate certainly isn't helping. not to mention their little secret that's been eating at them for years now: they're the lead singer of underworld punk sensation, hell's hook! ...not that anyone would even bother to guess that, though, given their whole...everything. besides, they've probably got bigger fish to fry...right? though atalanta's a bit (well, a lot) concerned about whether or not death is up to the task of training her (and so is brisa). it's strange how much no one dares question their full abilities, especially their siblings...though, does atalanta even want to find out what would push them to that limit? well, maybe probably not.
...but perhaps some secrets are best kept secrets for a reason.
