The Jiraiya you drew looks phenomenal. Love the composition, realism, style, and colours. I thought I was looking at a manipulated photo at first, then realised it was your work. You're drawing beautiful works. Improving with every single one. Good job. Please keep making magic. :)
Oh wow, thank you so so much for your kind words! It means so much to me knowing my art brings joy to others <3
I thought I could use the opportunity to give a little insight on my drawing process for this one since I changed it up a bit!
First and foremost, I‘ll find a good reference. It‘s crucial for realism especially (but really, it’s so helpful for every style) because our visual memory tends to suck. Here‘s the one I chose for Jiraiya and the initial sketch (flipped so we can see his cute little mole :) )
Then new in the process is making an underpainting, so a monochrome mapping out of the values and shapes you‘ll want in your drawing. It helps picking your colours too, because you already know how light or dark you’ll want them to be, so you’ll just need to decide on the hue and saturation! And the underpainting shines through on the spots you might miss on the canvas or don‘t colour fully opaque, so you‘ll get a nice coherence.
Once you’re all done, add a few finishing touches at the end and play with the sliders of your preferred drawing program and voila - Jiraiya in the hot springs :)
