Roran's hammer and Tinkledeath... which one will it be?
Galbatorix the Edgelord
He ended up more colorful than I thought he would.
Questions that might end up passing through minds:
Why is the design on the armor yellow?
The uniforms and standards of the Broddring Empire, aka Galbatorix’s Empire, are (if I’m not mistaken) golden flames on a black background. I couldn’t think of anything else that would be book-justified for the design.
Why two swords/why is the sheathed sword purple?
In Inheritance, we only see Galbatorix wielding Vrangr. The coloring page had an extra sword, and so I headcanoned that Galbatorix kept his own original Rider’s sword (though I’m now thinking that it was lost in the Spine but can’t flip through the books that fast or accurately at the moment), and after a quick tumblr question the two people who responded both gave hues of purple for Jarnunvösk, Galbatorix’s first dragon.
You forgot to color the sword he’s holding.
Nope! That sword is just was stark frickin’ white as it should be! That sword is Vrangr, the Rider’s sword that Galbatorix took from Vrael after killing him (and fun fact: It was the first Rider’s sword ever made, belonging to the Eragon I!). Vrangr is described as having a blade, crossguard and hilt that are all bleached totally white, and a pommel containing a pure, clear diamond.
Why so much black??
Besides the plain fact that he’s an evil king and a cringy edgelord? Well, his cape and gloves/armguards are made from the wings of Belgabad, considered the largest dragon at the time of his death at Doru Araeba. Belgabad was, obviously, black scaled. Galbatorix is also described in Inheritance as just...wearing a LOT of black. As in, EVERYTHING was black. Edgy Boi.
Wow, he looks kinda ripped.
Yeah, I know. Dayum.
Working on an edited background for the colored version of dear old Galby the Edgelord. The eye and spines are gonna be not as defined (hopefully) in the background of the original. It’s supposed to be/represent Shruikan lurking in the background, and since the general background (sans walkway) will be mostly black fading down to a dark shadow-grey sorta around the walkway and lanterns, I wanted that slash of the Big Angry Boi’s ice blue eye cutting through the darker colors. The spines on the right are the ‘cheek spines’ we see on all the other dragons in the coloring book, which I usually have either as white (for Saphria and Thorn), cream (Firnien when I get to him) and a very very slight greyish for Glaedr. Shruikan seems like the type to both not care about his appearance (hoW DOES HE CLEAN SO BIG) but also take pride in how terrifying he is and cares for himself accordingly. So still working on what shade his spines would be.
ANYWAY. The throne room floor is apparently ‘patterned,’ so I’m swearing a lot trying to figure out what pattern it would be. I’m terrible with pattern drawing. Might just make it a red carpet for a sassy king.
Here’s the completed version. Fuck that floor, but when you’re finished just roll over and go to sleep and not call them the next morning.
First, I absolutely fucking adore your art.(especially your drawings of Moony) Second, could you add the drawing titled "Professor" of Remus as a postcard on any of your shops?
It’s already on Society6 (I added it some time ago) I’ll try to add some new drawings on redbubble as well... soon :)
