Helping out at Helens House of Hope. A dog rescue and re-homing sanctuary in north-western Bulgaria, near the town of Vratsa. The dog sanctuary was started by and is basically run by one women from UK - Helen James. She moved to one of the poorest regions in the European Union about two years ago and is now responsible for about 70 dogs! And a retired police horse named Democratzia! Helen’s House of Hope also works with the community to help local people improve living standards for their own dogs. A group of volunteers – all of them local school children – take the dogs out for daily walks and learn about the proper treatment and care of the animals in return.
