Tour De Neclude part 2: Rainbow River
Featuring Cironus (@tides-that-bind-us) and Danmalaak (@this-rock-floats)
After the pod set out, despite the hassle of wrangling up the excited calves, they found themselves making good time, and it wasn't long until the notable landmasses of Hyrule had long vanished beyond the horizon.
The pod sang song after song to each other as they traveled to help pass the time; from sea shanties to 99 Bottles of beer on the wall to whatever noise struck their fancy.
Hours passed by rather uneventfully and soon the sun also found itself vanishing beyond the horizon. With the dark overcast of the clouds above, there was little to no moonlight, and the water reflected the small flecks of stars that managed to poke out between the clouds. The pod pressed on without issue, if anything, with more energy as their nocturnal nature swung into full swing!
However, in the darkness, one calf snoozing while fastened to an adult scared itself awake from its nap and, in the dark, gave a pittiful "I'M LOST!" sqwuack.
And at first, the others didn't seem to react. And then Danmalaak and Cironus saw what must have been a speckle of pink light pop up from the pod members ahead of them, then a green one, then yellows and oranges, vibrant blues. It's as if the dark sea had come alive with rainbow starlight as the fins and fade markings on the Zorphan's began to glow. Illuminating the entire pod as a silent, "We're here," that settled the calf.
"Pretty, isn't it? I remember the first time I saw the Rainbow River myself." Kohv mused as he swam up to Cironus, almost invisible in the dark with his dark colors and lack of bioluminosity.
"You know they can turn it on and off at will? Pretty neat adaptation, huh? Hard to get lost when they make it so easy to be found."
