Zwergs
This thing has a huge sound that belies its little size. I've been on the hunt for a Microzwerg for ages, hardly ever see them on the auction or used gear amalgamator site here in Japan. This is the MkII version, and it wasn't as cheap as I'd like it to have been but anyway here it is and I'm glad to have it. I was worried there'd be overlap between this and the Synth II but they're quite different. Microzwerg is more like an MS-20 and the Synth II is a Minimoog clone so there you go. Originally though I had no intention of bidding on this one. I had my sights set on this:
A synth I had at one time, but didn't use at all and ended up selling it without giving it a real chance. "What do I need six mono synths for?" was the reasoning behind that sale. Anyway, I did end up getting the nano, but the fucker doesn't work. First time I've been outright duped by a seller. "Works fine" ha yeah wrong. And I tried getting in touch via the messaging feature of the auction but nary a reply did I get. Bastard. After looking at his reviews I found another of a bidder who won an auction of a piece of audio gear who gave him a negative review saying something like "this guy has no idea what 'works fine' means at all, you'd better avoid anything audio related if you know what's good for you" so I guess I shoulda looked into the seller reviews first. I've emailed MFB though, so if they get back to me I'm cool with sending the fucker off to Germany and paying for a repair. It would be a shame if the poor thing just ended up dead here with no future. The buttons work fine and the LEDs change, but none of the knobs make any change, and no sound comes out. Anyone out there with a direct line to Manfred Fricke, please let me know!
I've made a ton of tracks since getting the MPC ONE. Gamechanger. The drum synth is SO good. I also sampled the sounds I made on the Korg S3 and that was about five billion times easier and faster to do than on the other MPCs I've owned. Touch-screen sample trimming is a godsend. Satansend. Yeah that. Here's a slow, head-nodder of a track that pays tribute to a bad guy I like from an 80s anime:
That's all for now, folks!
