Will photographers be required to generate VR footage? - VR footage is gaining momentum with the general public and people are interested in seeing what can be produced using this medium Having said that, VR, like other popular mediums, could just be a trend and could disappear as quickly as it emerged. I believe that photographers who are able to generate VR footage will have a higher standing with clients, but I don't believe that it will be a necessary requirement for photographers in the future.

How much would an editorial client would be prepared to pay? - There is a lot to take into consideration when producing VR footage, such as; Models, Locations, Equipment needed, 3D or Mono content, Post Production requirements, Delivery Platform, etc. Most quotes for VR footage production include a 10% contingency fee which will also be taken into consideration in the final price. Taking into account how much it costs to produce VR or 360 degree footage, I would estimate that clients would need to pay around £50,000 for a single ‘film’

Was it successful? - No, this was not successful as the film would not allow me to look around It seemed just like a regular film as the angle of the camera would not change If I didn't know that it was from a VR app, I would not have known that it was meant to be VR The elements ‘floating’ in front of the camera had very clearly been drawn (and not well) The video kept on buffering every 10 seconds or so There was virtually no discernible movement other than the drawn elements

How has it been made? - It has been made by attaching a 360 degree camera (or specifically adapted action cameras) to the side of a satellite or shuttle orbiting earth. Other elements have been drawn and added to float in front of the camera to I've the effect of debris in space.
