Eliphino set to release new single for somethinksounds

Ever since his 2010 track for Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings label, the stellar Let Me Love You Forever, Leeds-born and London-based electronic musician Eliphino (real name Tom Wrankmore) has been a constant fave here at DopeSound HQ. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old has released his debut EP, Undivided Whole, and its follow-up More Than Me via London / Berlin imprint somethinksounds, as well as a track for Hoya:Hoya's second release and a handful of remixes for the likes of KidKanevil, Duffstep and Jack Dixon. Never failing to dazzle with his own distinct take on house, garage and everything in between, Eliphino has quickly made a name for himself as one of bass music's most exciting prospects.

Next week sees the formerly hip hop-informed beatsmith's return to the somethinksounds stable with a brace of genre-pushing house steppers in the form of his new single VRYBDY / Don't Make Sense. The A-side, which has already made its way on to Mary Ann Hobbs XFM show, is an in-your-face club banger of the highest order, ready to devastate any dancefloor with its thumping bass, snapping 808s and hard-hitting beats that gradually build up towards a harsh near-techno workout in the track's closing section. The flipside is a similarly serious affair, rolling out rowdy vibes by use of gunshots and furious ragga vocal samples, choppy drum patterns and funky basslines.
