this topic has been a long time coming i think. i've been really adverse to it since it kinda goes completely against the facts that have been laid out to us in plain words by the word of god, but after crossing with this idea for so many times, i think it's about time i confront it. feel free to argue against my points after reading this ramble/analysis, i love discussions, and i especially would love some discussion about what im about to cover, because i haven't seen anyone else do it. anyway:
A.C. Void hates himself. kinda. it depends on how you look at it.
as much as we've been told A.C. Void loves himself more than anything and anyone else, the existence of A.C., his awareness of Void being a 'persona', and his distain towards Void have, to me, always felt contradictory to this notion.
if my past analyses and current interpretations are logical and correct, and if Starbreak hasn't changed his mind on some of his past answers to certain questions (which HAS happened before (im still not over the weight thing)), A.C. and Void are not in fact separate entities/consciousness, but the same person under different mindsets (i have likened A.C. to a state of blind rage before, iykyk). please also keep in mind that it's not clear whether A.C. or Void would be considered his 'true self'. (side tangent but 'true self' doesn't exist. everyone has different facets of themselves dipshit, it came free with your having different identities under different contexts and obligations /ref. a completely true self would be a colossal context collapse. anyway.)
when A.C. appears in the cutscene before Singularity, his immediate spoken thought is 'I was getting really sick of that stupid smug persona'… with the above knowledge/speculation, it would mean A.C. Void dislikes his public self, mainly how exhaustive it is to constantly perform it. however, it is also depicted in the cutscene before Gravity that Void is afraid of A.C. on some level (showcased through an increased awareness of his 'dangerous' nature), which would mean A.C. Void also dislikes his private self, mainly because he knows the destructiveness it carries. this leaves us with an A.C. Void who all-around seems to dislike being himself.
funnily enough, this links us to another trait of A.C. Void that was shown in the mod and reinforced in the Q&As, which is that his strongest insult is 'nobody', Starbreak going so far as to name it as an insult that is special to his character. a manifestation of a firm belief that the worst thing a being can be is someone not remembered or perceived, not being anything at all. i was really sure this was stated somewhere, but apparently it never was, so maybe this isn't as strong of an evidence as i thought it would be, but this speculation stands! im rolling with it! anyway, guess what about A.C. Void's origins has been hammered down as a major part of his character.
A.C. Void is, by definition, nothing. not even his body is his own. A.C. Void is so nothing that his very basic need to be physically perceivable is dependent on taking from his surroundings. he goes on to dedicate his whole life thus far to ensuring he continues to be perceivable, and yet he wouldn't escape the fact that he doesn't go beyond the hole in his chest. the point is, A.C. Void not only dislikes his own portrayal of his own selves, he dislikes even his own conception. A.C. Void does not like himself.
the thing that fascinates me the most about everything i have said so far is that none of that debunks A.C. Void's self-centredness, but in fact reinforces it. he despises Void because he's exhausting; he despises A.C. because his existence destroys the empire of facade he's built; he despises nobodies because he hated his nothing self, and if a nobody managed to rise above him, it would prove that he's not special for climbing out of his own hellhole, and he's no better than nothing after all.
anyway, like i said in the beginning, feel free to discuss this further! i won't have any way to know how solid this analysis is without some help.
