SIDE NOTES: SBTRKT - SBTRKT (Audio Visual Experiment)
Following up their last journey into the subconscious, "IMO", SBTRKT has released yet another long shot of a single unusual thing accompanied by a fresh beat. Putting aside the upside-down falling drops of oil...or magnetized balls of liquid metal...or 3D animated globs, SBTRKT's soundtrack remains decidedly minimalist. Featuring only the barest hint of a beat, an underwater synth line, and a rattlesnake hiss of a snare, the song shows SBTRKT moving away from his hyper-dancey first album into more subtle territory. While these audio visual experiments are surely only the barest inklings of whatever album they become (or not), it's good to see the producer continue to push his work and his style to new places.
