this is actually fun i wanna keep making vtubers

also, to the people who make vtubers out there... is there a way to give the model a multiply lineart effect similar to the img on the right? (its just the sketch i made with lowered opacity and in multiply)

my art is known to have glowy lineart and multiply is how i achieve it. also, my lineart is all in one layer. (like its lowk iconic and you look at the pic on the left and ur like... did ezekiel draw that????)

but since everything is in separate layers im not sure how to do it... also i know live 2d supports multiply, but idk how it'll work for the final product ueuee

i attempted to paint in the effect but it still doesnt look quite right

hiya, I was wondering if you had any advice on 3d model stuff for vtubing :D I think it'd be really fun to do and I LOVE your model!

I don't know much about it though, like what software one would use for rigging and such. So I thought I would ask for advice.

Unfortunately this is the embarrassing part - I don't really know how to do real 3D model creation. I use VRoid Studio (also available on Steam) which is a fairly-okay character creator that handles most of this stuff for you. All I really do for customisation is creating custom textures for existing models. Still, it's fun to just download and mess around with, and it's surprisingly powerful with what you can pull off with some tricks.

For actually capturing movement and stuff, I hear the best is VNyan with all of its potential integrations, and Warudo is about comparable. I've never gotten either to work, so a simpler solution that works a bit easier out-of-the-box would be VSeeFace.

For making my renders and thumbnails, I use VRM Posing Desktop, which is a paid software but worth the small price and very easy to use in my opinion.

Disclaimer: I won't be designing the character this time around, so the person you recommend should already have a design of some sort. And depending on how many people join I may need to limit how many requests I can take.

Any Vtubers Familiar with VSFAvatar format that can help me?

I'm having a very specific problem with my model that only happens when exporting to VSF format and all of this is so new I can't find any support on the issue My model has ankle frills that are an fbx made for me by a modeler pal, I know how to attach them and add spring bones and all of that works fine in VRM.

Exporting into VSFAvatar format while having springbones makes it do this??? I've exhausted my knowledge on this and my friend who's a pro has no internet till after my Anniversary week and I've been trying to get a new outfit ready.

Did you make your stream model yourself? I'm looking to upgrade my own set up but don't know where to start, and I'd appreciate any tips on just things/programs I'd need

I make all of my own stuff, model and art!

I use a bunch of free programs, mostly VRoid Studio to make the model and VSeeFace for model action. VRoid Studio is free standalone and on Steam if you want it to keep itself updated.

VRoid is basically a build-a-doll 3D program, but it has tons of options and user-made content to browse as well. I personally make all my own stuff via texture editing, and some others are very good at making cool custom parts in it despite its limitations. It's good if you're like me who can draw and understand textures, but not actual 3D modeling. That said, if you want any super fancy parts made, you may have to look elsewhere if you really want to use 3D.

VSeeFace works pretty well out of the box and while it's not the most advanced tracker, it's very quick and easy to set up. More advanced alternatives include VNyan and Warudo, both of which can do a lot more stuff and even integrate with the streaming website you use, but I can never get to work properly without a degree in Unity development.

For posing and making renders off-stream, I highly recommend VRM Posing Desktop. It's been very fun to pose my models and make thumbnail/promotional art with.
