If you’re worried you don’t have enough yard space for chickens this year, don’t worry! You can have a container chicken garden instead!
It is floody as hell today.
Look at Nyx.
Fed up with being inside because she likes to strut around outside but it is WET. It’s been raining for days. They’re all depressed.
When I move, they’re getting a porch on their new coop so they can sit under a roof on days like this.
Some more chicken content from yesterday:
After Nyx asked to go back to the coop, I convinced Canary that it was safe to come out. Here she is getting a drink of that tasty rain water I keep for my garden. Sometimes they beg to come out just to drink it. 😂
The two are joint leaders of the flock, so they don’t like to leave anyone alone without at least one of them. But Nyx always wants to come out in the garden, so Canary stays behind with the shier birds who want to stay in their safe yard. (Buklava, Chai, Midna, and Lily enjoy coming out with me.) It took a good twenty minutes to get her to leave the fence and go play with the others, but she finally did, and she had a blast taking a dirt bath. I have a big hole in the garden now lol.
Midna fell asleep in the sun.
Just look how cute.
Also, yes, her back is bald. We’ve had a plucking problem in the flock. They get medicine for their skin and are getting stuff to help the problem, but I’m wondering if they’re not just permanently naked at this point. They refuse to wear the aprons I got them to protect them because everyone is terrified of them and three of them jumped their 8ft fence over it. 😐 The drama.
Was feeling guilty a few months ago because I held an opossum at knife point when it broke into my chicken coop to eat eggs. Apparently I wasn’t mean enough. One of my chickens was killed yesterday. I’m not okay. Next time I won’t be so fucking kind. I need to go out and try to fix my fencing and shit.
Midna was such a sweet chicken. The rest of my flock is upset and sad. I really hope she didn’t suffer long.
I’m seeing a lot of traffic here because of my chickens. If you would like to see more, I tag them all with “vu chickens.” I will tag it below so you can click it. Or maybe even cluck it? 🐔
(The VU is just a code I use to find stuff on my own blog more easily.)
The Birds (2024) 😂
Have some Lily, lost in the sauce. She made a nice hole in the garden. Also enjoy Chai being in a mood about it all today lol.
Note: Yes those are cat litter buckets. I recycle so many things in my garden, and these are great for tomatoes and peppers since they’re deep. Can’t wait until I can have a normal ground garden, though.
