it's a coincidence that her debut fell so close to the day of her namesake, but i figured it'd be a good day to properly introduce her! here's Valentine (also known as Val or Vally) the Vultoxin!

Vally's a goofball who loves jokes and tricks, and while she's generally well-intended, sometimes she comes off as a little intense. she's also very forward with her thoughts and feelings, which sometimes makes her completely tactless. ultimately, though, she wants to have fun with her friends, so even if she gets annoyed, she's quick to forgive and apologize so they can get back to being silly together.

she wound up becoming friends with Axel and Buddy when their coach happened to find a raremorph Seakit out in the wilderness... but didn't want to disrupt their main team to add Vally to it. she still wanted to join the roster though, and spends most of her time practicing with the away team or scheming with Buddy.

also, since Vultoxin has only one pose as of writing this, i've taken a lot of liberties with her design! the way i draw her may change once we get more art for the cool slug-kitsune. (we did get seakit's vocalizations today and IT'S THE CUTEST THING EVER)

her number is 777 because she was a lucky find! it's also a subtle reference to a music album i really love that maybe 80 people total have ever heard of.

collection of quick little Beastieball drawings I did a bit ago!! I love this game so much <3

Top left & center is my vultoxin, Blue (short for Blue Eyes White Dragon) Bottom left are Feist (servace) & Cupcake (supilero), who were sweethearts on my primary team! Top right is a very loose sketch of Balboa (hopra) and Portobello (illugus), who have had an extremely rocky rivals relationship since day one. Hopra and illugus are both much more complicated to draw than I thought so I ended up not finishing that one. And bottom left are @bitter-marie and I's wcrp characters but as beasties, that's why the palettes on those two are so whacked out lol. Polynya & Nacre as little critters was just what I needed in my soul.

I will probably draw more Beastieball stuff!! I love the game a lot, all the creature designs are super on point, I recommend it to anyone who likes either sports anime or creature collector type games!

Fun fact: In our main Beastieball playthrough, our Wottle, Matcha, and our Vultoxin, Hatsune Miku (don't ask why they're called that) became sweethearts. They are not toxic yuri because they are bad for each other. They're toxic yuri because Vultoxins are literally poisonous to touch.

most people aren't able to understand how beasties talk (though the text indicates it's pretty complex), so i assumed when you order food for your team at the restaurant, they can point to the menu item they want. that, however, implies beasties are capable of learning how to read, so does that mean they can also learn how to write? wouldn't that completely circumvent the language barrier? maybe they've memorized the menu options??? drawing this gave me more questions than answers.

anyways, i got the idea from a comment someone made in the wishes unlimited discord where they wondered what Buddy would "surprisingly not be in sync with".

the answer is pizza toppings.
