Melton Centrals North West VWFL 2016 undefeated team
The last home and away game saw Melton Centrals back at Arnolds Creek reserve Melton where they met the Shepparton FNC on 30 July 2016. An unseasonably warm and sunny afternoon didn’t deter the girls from sticking to their plan, to go through 2016 undefeated.
The home ground advantage paid off for the team and they were in front early and not really challenged for the match. It could have been a blow out except for some inaccurate kicking in front of goal. All in all a great way to finish off the home and away season.
One sour note was the knee injury to Kareena Jacobs, lets hope she makes it for the finals.
There were a few milestones as well with Tara Crisp playing her last home and away game. She has been with the club 8.5 years playing for Melton Centrals and she can finally say the time has come for her to hang up the boots. Massive congratulations go out to the 4 awesome players who are playing their milestones as well...Chelsea Forbes and Luc Lenius who play 100 games and Kyllie Garrett and Laken Lanza who play 50!
Final score
Melton Centrals 5.10 40
Shepparton FNC 3.2 20
Goal Kickers: A. Masters, R. Carra, T. Crisp, B. Willcox, K. Garrett
Best Players: L. Morren, C. Rollinson, L. Martino, K. Saleta, A. Porter, K. Jacobsen-Logan
Too big, too strong
Melton Centrals took on an understrength Jacana at Jacana Oval Broadmeadows 24 July 2016
Jacana could only field twelve players, and were always going to be up against it. Melton used their extra players well and kept the pressure up all day.
Melton gained ascendency early and established a 6 goal lead by 1/4 time. They were never troubled from then on.
In the end it was too big too strong for the Centrals and they ran out easy winners.
Final score
Melton Centrals 13.16. 94
Jacana 1.0. 6
Goal Kickers: J. Nankiville 5, T. Crisp 3, C. Forbes 2, N. Undy, R. Kay, T. Mckean
Best Players: R. Carra, J. Nankiville, C. Rollinson, T. Mckean, N. Undy, A. Masters
