Derek and Stiles stand side-by-side at the window, Stiles with tears in his eyes, Derek’s with tears staining his cheeks.
“She’s so beautiful Der. Look at her!”
“Shhhhhh Stiles she’s sleeping. Don’t wake her up.”
“I wasn’t being loud Der. I’m just so ... I’m just so ....”
“Yeah, me too.”
Derek takes Stiles hand and gives it a squeeze. “Do we know when we can take her home?”
“They said tomorrow. Cora should be discharged tomorrow too.”
“Tomorrow.”
Stiles turns towards his husband. “We’re fathers now Der. FATHERS. We have a daughter. Thanks to Cora she has both our DNA. She’s OUR baby.”
Derek his head to look at Stiles. “She’s our baby that still doesn’t have a name.”
Stiles smiles shyly at Derek, a faint blush on his cheeks. “I was thinking Laura.”
Derek gasps. “Really?”
“Really.”
Derek turns back to where his daughter is sleeping in the nursery. “Laura. She looks like Laura did when she was a baby.”
“See? Laura is perfect.”
“Are you sure? What about naming her after your mom?”
Stiles pulls Derek towards him and tucks himself under Derek’s arm. “Well, we’re planning on having many more babies right? Claudia will come along soon enough.”
Derek swallows, nodding his head, unable to speak. He touches his hand to the glass just as his daughter begins to stir.
“Laura,” he whispers.
