“hey, asshole!” vander called out before pulling sandwiches out of his pockets. he had seen alcide working on his walk and decided his day needed brightening. obviously the solution was lunch with his favorite brother. “are you on lunch break yet? i got the special from the shop around the corner. or are you too busy for your favorite brother?”

“you’re quite alright. i talk to myself all of the time, it can be quite meditative.” obi-wan assured, encouraged even. “i would advise against starting full conversations with yourself, but you shouldn’t have to worry.” he teased. “i wasn’t listening if that’s what you’re worried about. your business is your own.”

aiza snapped out of her work to address the other, she almost didn’t hear her she was so zoned in. it wasn’t until she was pulled that she felt the heaviness in her eyes. she was going to protest in order to get some more work done, but she didn’t even have the energy. “ice cream actually sounds lovely. do you know any good spots? i’m craving some pistachio ice cream.”

“you’re assuming an awful lot.” obi-wan chided, sipping his tea judgmentally. he had known many young, arrogant jedi who thought the world was their’s for the claiming. he didn’t know the other well enough to claim arrogance, but he was seasoned for these sort of conversations. “and on the off chance someone comes along and changes your perspective? or at the very least, teaches you something new?” obi-wan asked. he was a teacher, he wanted to know which students he could challenge to learn. “open yourself to other possibilities, you may be surprised.”

erik looked out upon the city. he hated it in many ways. he didn’t like the people, the crowds, the noise. but atop his opera house…well… “there is a certain beauty to the city i suppose. the sunset does a majority of the work, but the town itself has a certain aethetic.” he relented. he had only come up here to patch a section of the roof, he hadn’t expected to be so…sentimental. “despite the town’s manifold flaws…one does have to appreciate it now and again.”
