prompt: (fluff #23) “I guess time flies when you’re with somebody you love”
You place the last batch of your infamous but maybe only to Daniel chocolate chip cookies inside the oven. He always insists on you making three batches every time you felt like baking. Obviously, it was way too much for the both of you. But you and Daniel always ate until you’re both way too full anyway.
“Okay! Now we wait,” you say.
“Hmm…” he hums in a mischievous tone.
“What are you thinking?” you raise an eyebrow at him.
“Let’s play a game!” he excitedly says and immediately he runs towards the living room.
“What are you up to now!” you exclaim, running after him. You loved watching him look like a complete child. Always so excited and jumping around. You thought by now he’d be tired to do anything, especially after weeks of non-stop schedules he had to endure. Yet whenever he visits your apartment during his free day, it feels like no time has passed between the both of you since the last time you saw each other. Deep inside, you too, were always excited––Daniel just had a cuter way of expressing it.
“Okay. You have to guess which girl group song I’m dancing to!” he says, placing both of his hands at his sides, his lips form into a smirk.
“Eas-“ you were about to say easy, since you always catch him singing and dancing along to girl groups, sometimes even unknown to him, it’s such a common occurrence you don’t even bother to make fun of him anymore. But your words were cut off by him telling you to keep quiet.
“There’s a catch, (y/n)!!! Before you answer, you have to dance along with me.”
You were about to retort, wanting a change of rules since––let’s just say, how good you are in baking is equivalent to how bad you are in singing and dancing anything at all. “AND!” he shouts, way too excitedly again, “You have to sing the answer!”
“Fine!” you agree while letting out a laugh. It was difficult to disagree with Daniel. He always looked so happy. He’s indeed a child, like everyone says––a child you can’t seem to say no to. It was times like this after not seeing each other for a long time that the sight of Daniel smiling and laughing endlessly made up for the times you weren’t together. Each time that passed by without him, waiting for him to come back, was always worth it when you get to see him so happy like this. Not to mention the fact that it was you who was making him happy.
You lose your train of thought when he instantly begins to dance. His tall figure and his broad shoulders moving along to a choreography you knew too well––Red Flavor by Red Velvet, you answer in your head. You didn’t want to answer just yet. Daniel looks adorable with his eyes barely even there anymore because of his wide smile. You continue to watch him, pretending not to know the answer. “Come on, (y/n)!!! You know this!!! You always sing this in the showe-“ he cuts off his sentence. “Hey! You’re not answering on purpose! This is unfair!” he begins to whine.
Daniel begins to roll on the ground, pretending to throw tantrums at you. You can’t help but laugh at the sight of him complaining. His exaggerated cries were enough to let you form tears of laughter. How could someone as big as him look so tiny and cute at the same time.
All of a sudden, a loud ting went off in your apartment. The cookies were finally ready. Daniel stands up from the ground with his mouth open, his eyes wide, his entire body very much looking thrilled. “Wow, I can’t believe you danced to a three minute song for twelve minutes,” you say to him, losing your breath trying hold in a laugh.
“I guess time flies when you’re with somebody you love,” he says as he walks over to you. His towering frame catches you off guard as he abruptly puts you on his back, the sudden shift of height causing you to scream. “Let’s go we have three dozens of cookies to eat!” he yells as he runs across the room with you clinging onto his back.
Every moment spent like this with Daniel–no matter if it’s a second, an hour, a day, an entire year even, always feels as though it already lasted an entire eternity.
