The program virus.ramnit belongs to a large family of worms that target Windows systems for infection in order to steal banking credentials and other sensitive information about online banking and payment services. It infects host files that in turn infect other files when it is executed. The infection spreads through infected removable drives. The virus.ramnit worm maintains communication with a remote server and has backdoor functionalities that enable remote access and the downloading of more malware into the PC.
