Sidekick
Summary: Deadpool/Reader, platonic, reader becoming deadpool’s sidekick, Combined with; Reader is a runaway kid because abused by parents and accidentally meet’s him in the bar. Deadpool recognise her because Wolverine mentioned her before
Before starting the school you’d run. You’d kept running and trying to find somewhere to hide, where you’d managed to duck into the back of a bar without any questions. You hadn’t been surprised assuming your powers were working in order to keep yourself safe, a subconscious sort of gift which you were relieved that’s how your powers seemed to currently work despite being untrained. Of course you can feel them starting to short out, to weaken, and it just so happens to be now when your powers give out that someone in a red and black suit saunters into the bar and turns his attention right towards you.
You’d been nervous about starting at Xavier’s school, your powers were unpredictable and your parents had been advised that studying with others of your kind was the safest for you. You had been more than happy to leave, they’d always been abusive but the sudden presentation of your powers had meant they’d become more vicious about the abuse, having what they deemed a justifiable reason to harm you.
“Names Deadpool, and you’re Y/N.”
“How did you know?”
“Skipped ahead, anyways, I get your parents are shit, trust me you’re not going to talk about that and Logan and Charles force it outta ya, but either way kid, I think you’re a tiny bit too young to be hiding out in here.”
“It’s the best spot, they won’t.. Wait, you work with the X-men?”
“No, but I know them, now, you should probably get back to the school, er well get to it.” he seems a little nervous and you shake your head.
“Not yet, I just… it’s a lot to think about.”
“Being away from your folks huh?”
“No having powers, that’s the best part, getting away from my parents.. But the powers, I don’t know if I can handle them, If I’ll ever be able to deal with them constantly fluctuating, I don’t think I can control them like everyone expects me to.. I don’t think I can learn at that school… Can I go with you instead?” You look hopefully and Deadpool shakes his head.
“No kid. You should go to the school. I can take you, if you’d rather just go straight there instead of dealing with your parents. I’m guessing what you’ve packed is the most important to you?” He gestures to the bag at your feet and you pull it slightly closer, nodding.
“Good, grab it and we can head out now.”
“I just said…”
“I know, but being the responsible adult if we wait any longer here then we’ll miss the ice cream sundae bar they set up after dinner, and wouldn’t that just be the tragedy of the century.”
“That’s what you’re concerned about, not the fact my parents might report me missing to the police or the fact that the X-men might come looking for me?”
“Nope, Charles knows right where you are, with me, so he knows you’re safe.” Deadpool lifts his mask so you can see him grinning. You grab you bag and huff as his smile grows, he cheers as you let him hail a cab and bring you to the school.
You’d only been training for a year and a half, which Charles comments is impressive for someone with your powers and the lack of control you’d shown earlier. He seems like he wants to say more after the training session but Scott pulls you to the side and asks about an extra spar and you leap at the opportunity to train against him.
You’re halfway through the full hour and you’re already exhausted but you know if you push yourself more you can actually beat him. You’re about to land a hit when a katana slices through the air and you scowl turning to try to figure out who would do that.
“Hey kid, long time no see, how’re you doing?”
“Deadpool!” You laugh when you run over to hug him grinning and pointing excitedly to the decimated training area that you’d swamped with your powers.
“Impressive, listen I can’t stay long, just came cause of the sundae bar and cause Charles said he had something he needed to discuss with me..” He nods towards where Charles is by the entrance and you nod back.
“So was it important?” You ask when Deadpool’s sitting next to you enjoying his fifth sundae.
“Sort of.”
“Okay.. you going to tell me?”
“No.”
“Why not.”
“It’s a secret no x-men mission.”
“Well if I become your sidekick then you can tell me.”
“Become? I thought you already were? Why would I have left you here to train if I wasn’t coming back for you?” Deadpool laughs when you just stare shocked at him.
