I tried to play it once and… it did not go well. They guy teaching me and my friends got angry about our “vagina brigade” and flipped the board. I love board games but I cannot take Catan seriously now. :/ and people always recommend it to me.
The first thing I thought of when I read your response was , "Wow, what a f*cking asshole," but the second one was that the Catan board is made up of individual units. And then I imagined an angry brodude trying to overthrow the board piece by piece, and that was really hilarious.
I'm sorry to hear that your introduction to this game was so negative! It's really fun when you have good friends to play with [who aren't sore-ass losers], but I totally understand what you mean. Sometimes, good things can be completely ruined by a single person.... /stares off into the distance and has war flashbacks

I wouldn't say "often," but my friends and I are usually always up for a round or two when we have time and are together! My sister and brother-in-law also have a copy, but we never play unless it's with a big group of people.
