SO Willamette University has some partnership with this place in Waitati that is sort of like a day camp/school place for slightly troubled Maori youth but also hosts student groups to learn some traditional Maori crafts and practices and such. I'm not sure exactly what to call it, but it was really cool! We wove baskets, flowers, and bracelets out of flax, caught and cooked our own clams for dinner, made our own flutes, and helped carve our own green stone necklaces! We also learned a lot of traditional greetings and practices and stories and things like that. It was a super fun trip!
