Join the Rockland community as we WALK 11 kilometers to honor the 39th anniversary of the tragic events of the 1972 Munich Olympics while creating positive CHANGE in our community. Proceeds from the WALK4CHANGE will benefit the hungry in Rockland County and Israel, through People To People (Rockland’s largest food pantry, feeding over 1,700 families), the Rhoda Bloom Kosher Food Pantry and our Israeli partner organizations via the Jewish Federation of Rockland County.
Prior to the walk, JCC Rockland will be unveiling a new outdoor memorial sculpture by artist Eric David Laxman in honor of the 11 members of the Israeli Olympic delegation who lost their lives to terrorism at the 1972 Olympics. The WALK4CHANGE is part of JCC Rockland’s ongoing effort to honor the Munich 11 athletes in conjunction with JCC Rockland’s hosting of the JCC Maccabi Games in August 2012. In their memory, walkers are encouraged to raise at least $111.
