Is anyone else 98.9999% sure that Hoyt left the necklace in Emily's grave? Or maybe another family grave?
One thing I'm losing my mind over in this episode is my theories coming true
I've suspected for the longest time that Sadie was related to the break-in in some way because of how she introduced Stella to Witt and @theladywyn and I speculated that she came to Austin to do just that. We sort of speculated that Sadie was there to essentially do recon for the break-in and that it could be related to something Hoyt did many years ago. That whoever was behind the break-in pointed Sadie in Geri's direction after helping her settle her debts after her mother passed.
This episode feels like a confirmation of that. She knew Witt, she knew there was a woman in charge, and she knew this was all about a necklace- likely a stolen necklace- before Witt even brought it up.
I'm starting to suspect that the reason she hadn't stayed anywhere longer than a few nights while she was gone for those 5 months is because she, like Witt and Stella, was terrified for her life after the break-in. She didn't want to go to the cops at first because she didn't want her record exposed. Now that Witt is alive and could probably vouch as a character witness alongside Stella, she feels like going to law enforcement- specifically Cordell- is the safest move. And she's leaving again because Stella won't follow her reasoning.
I have no idea if the Jackal is actually connected to all this but I wouldn't be surprised if she was in a compromising situation in a later episode.
Something I picked up on while watching the episode that I may not have time to address in my review is that Stella seems to be under the impression that if they just find the necklace and hand it over to whoever wants it, then this will all be over.
And it may be for her. She's only really tangentially involved with this and, being a Ranger's daughter, it probably wouldn't be worth it to go after her once they have what they want.
But for Witt? For Sadie? I don't think so.
Both Witt and Sadie work for/with whoever is behind all this. Both of them are on the run and not answering their boss' calls. Witt faked his death and killed one of his co-workers. Sadie may have given bad intel about the location of the necklace. Even when it is recovered, the people behind all this may not consider it over for them.
Witt has "dead by the end" written all over him. I think they'd want to keep Sadie around longer since they made a big deal around her introduction but that doesn't mean she'll be safe.
I just have a feeling we're going to enter a "false sense of security" stage in this plot between now and the finale.
Can’t put a pic here BUT roughly 10 seconds into the 4x10 trailer it looks like someone is helping someone else with long hair (and a bag over their head?) behind Johanna, and I think it’s Sadie👀
Oooooo I didn't even realize that until you pointed it out.
I could totally see that being Sadie, especially with the height. And we're due to see her again anyway
Previously I could make predictions like I kind of knew this was gonna happen tho, I had a feeling Cordell was gonna be in trouble, but now I have no idea what's gonna happen next. My best guess would be that he'll probably be buried but they'll prolly find him on time and get him to a hospital or something, and the hallucinations, that's the most interesting part for me, like what's he gonna hallucinate, from the trailer it seems like he sees the dead people he loved but from the photos that were released, Abby and Bonham are also there and idk what the place looks like, potted plants, white walls, so many chairs, funeral?wedding? And then the very last clip, it's like Cordell doesn't wanna leave this drug induced mind palace and Emily is trying to pull him out of this trance..
It's gonna be a bumpy ride the next few episodes. What do ya think?
My current theory is that they're going to find Cordell just before he gets buried and he'll go through some kind of recovery in 4x12 or off screen. I also feel like we'll be getting the payoff to Cassie warning him that going rogue doesn't just affect him in the last episode.
As far as what's happening in Cordell's head, I'm curious about the implication that it's just up to him whether or not he wakes up. It feels very reminiscent of a supernatural plot, which is fine. Part of me is hoping it turns out a little more like prodigal son and Cordell wakes up knowing exactly who the Jackal is based on clues from his dream. Very much looking forward to him interacting with Emily. It's been too long <3. Also love the confirmation for me and @theladywyn's theory that we would see Hoyt again after that one BTS post.
I'm thinking the stuff with Abby and Bonham is at some kind of ceremony. I know initially we were thinking it could be August's graduation, and that's still not out of the question in my mind. I don't think it'll be a funeral. The most outlandish thing it could be is a wedding for Hoyt and Geri but I just don't see that happening. The mood isn't somber like a funeral but it doesn't seem to be decorated like a wedding. More like a graduation or some other professional ceremony.
It's going to be a very bumpy ride for the next couple of episodes. I'm still thinking the finale is going to be more removed from the Jackal storyline and have everything wrap up for a mostly satisfying ending.
Walker Season 4 First Look: An Overanalysis of TVLine's Exclusive Sneak Peek
TVLine released this article earlier today and there is SO MUCH to talk about
First off, we have an official premiere date for season 4! 4x01 will be hitting our airwaves on April 3rd! Which leads us to our next point: Walker will now be airing on Wednesdays. Regardless of the network reasons for changing the air day of our beloved show, I do appreciate the alliteration of Walker Wednesdays.
Second, let's talk about the plot that awaits us.
The first episode will cover Cordell's birthday and I am literally BEGGING the powers that be to give us an official birthday for Cordell. If we don't at least get a month timespan to work with, I'll be quite upset.
We also have a few cliffhangers coming off of the season 3 finale but this article spends the most amount of time talking about how the reopened cold case "The Jackal". Jared shares that Larry James will be having a few issues with this case, specifically "past trauma". We know from the season 3 finale that James was obsessed with the case and hearing about it on his wedding day probably didn't help matters. Jared also says he hopes Cordell will get to "get to return the favor and be there for him" during his time of need so I'm looking forward to a lot more Walker & James scenes in the coming season.
Jared also specifically called out Cordell and Geri giving things another try and being a "good tag-team for Stella and Auggie", so it looks like we're looking into some romance mixed with co-parenting.
Now, onto the promo pics!
This picture has a few interesting details in it. First off, where's August???? I know it's entirely possible for him to be in a different room or just out of frame of the picture but literally everyone else is here!
Second, it looks like there's some heated conversation between Larry and Ben. Taking in a lot of surprised and concerned faces on both sides of the table, I'm going with the theory that Ben said something that accidentally ruffled some feathers. Abby and Bonham tactfully staying out of it only reinforces that idea for me.
This photo is also very interesting to me. Based on the chairs and the candles, I'm betting this is also at the ranch house dinner table. But this time, it's dark and Cordell is all alone. The article describes him as "somber and contemplative" and I have to agree. The big question is, why? My current theory is that he just got some bad news relating to the "Jackal" case and this will be our end-of-episode cliffhanger. But there are other options too! @theladywyn posited August's absence in the previous photo may be deeper than it looks and could be contributing. It's also possible that Cordell learned about what happened between Stella and the home invader in 3x18- and that she called Liam for help.
So many possibilities, so little information, and so many questions left to answer. April 3rd (or 4th if you- like me- are stuck watching the episodes online) can't come soon enough!
What was that ending ? Like wtf wtf? I wanna know what you think bout it? Like maybe walker was trying to figure out how the rope was twisted around the victim's hand and maybe he was in a similar situation in the past and the same person tied the rope around his hands too in a similar fashion, so maybe that same person who Cordell has encountered before is actually the one they are looking for ? I don't know i'm going crazy :)
I wanna know what happens next so bad damn it. What are your predictions?
I've seen so many theories on what the meaning behind that ending was
I have to be honest, unless Cordell just has a really vivid imagination, what we saw looked a lot like memories. I'm not completely dismissing the idea that he's putting himself in the place of the victims for one reason or another, but it really seemed like a memory.
A theory I've seen floating around is him carrying out the kills himself and just not remembering it. While I Love this idea, it doesn't seem to fall in line with the show. I could see him maybe trying to put himself into the mindset of the killer, but he's not the Jackal.
I saw @supamerchant theorize that he could've been the first or an early victim of the Jackal's that just managed to get away and we could've been seeing a repressed memory. That would certainly explain a lot, especially why the case is affecting him so much the second time around.
Aside from that, I don't really have any concrete ideas. All I can say for sure is that Cordell is not okay.
I keep forgetting my work schedule has changed so my review will be later today
In the meantime, a discussion prompt for you all:
What are the implications of that scene at the end with Cordell and the rope?
Potential answers:
Cordell is secretly the Jackal
One of the victims was psychic and their spirit is beaming memories at him
He was a serial killer in a past life
He has a psychic connection to his alternate universe self- Sam Winchester
He's just going crazy
I'm not making this a poll I want y'all to reblog and elaborate on this
