Who I think Neegan Killed
So after finally catching up with The Walking Dead, I was left devastated and curious as to who Neegan was going to kill. So I’m going to just write out my theory.
Glenn: Highly Possible.
Why? He’s the one most people are sure was killed by Neegan. Reasons being, he was the one who died exactly the same in the comics, he’s been around since season 1, he almost died earlier in the season, he was the one who found the photos of Lucille’s other victims and he just killed his first living human and was very distraught about it. Another reason people think it’s him is because he was the one who stepped out of line when Neegan threatened Maggie and because of the “angle” of the victim we were shown might match up with Glenn. Plus he’s a fan favorite.
Why not? For almost the exact same reasons he could be the victim. He was the one who acted out of line when Maggie was threatened yes, but why would Neegan give him a “free pass” only to turn around and bash his head in a few minutes later? Seems a little too much overkill. Again, he was the one killed by Neegan in this exact same fashion in the comics, since WHEN does the show ever follow the comics character wise? Never. The plot lines they follow to an almost T, but characters deaths not so much. We’re all expecting it to be Glenn because of the comics, so it wouldn’t be much surprise factor to kill him off now. Along with that, Glenn already was left on a cliffhanger earlier and we were left to wonder if he died or not, it’s again a bit overkill to just turn around and do it yet again.
Abraham: Most probable (imo).
Why? He’s the only one of the group recently to really get the hang of who he is and what he wants as a person, he’s getting too comfortable which is usually a bad sign. He just let go of Rosetta, finally made amends with Eugene, and has decided he’s pretty into Sasha and wants a life with her. He’s also the only one who stood straight and looked Neegan in the eye as a challenge. He’s the toughest of the group, and whomever was beaten by Lucille didn’t go down easily. (Which is a big reason for behind why I think others of the group weren’t the ones hit.) Neegan was pretty impressed by whomever it was, why not go for the one who actually challenged him and was the strongest. The one who would be most likely to stand up against Neegan. We’ve also seen plenty of hints to Abraham’s demise as multiple times he just threw his life on the line in the face of danger without regards to living or dying.
Why not? He’s not a huge fan favorite, so it might not be as big of a surprise or shock and he hasn’t been around super long.
Rosetta, Aaron, Eugene: Very unlikely.
Why/Why not? None of the three are very strong physically or mentally, it wouldn’t cause a huge reaction from the audience or the group (let’s be honest) and it’d definitely be a cop-out. Out of the three, Aaron would be the more likely one only because he really had no reason to be out there and it was made a point to even be asked “Why are you here?” And he’s the only one in the group from Alexandria and most of them have been getting killed off easily. And out of all three, none of them would take that beating from Lucille very well.
Carl: Not likely.
Why? He’s Rick’s son and it would be a great way to punish Rick since Rick is the leader and he’s the one who pissed off Neegan the most. Neegan also wasn’t amused that Carl, for a kid, was showing no emotion or fear and that he was holding one of Neegan’s pistols. Carl’s been around since season 1 and while he may not be considered a “fan favorite”, it would definitely be a shock.
Why not? Again, whomever was beaten by Lucille didn’t just fall over and give up the second they were hit, Carl’s still just a kid and I doubt he’d have the strength to get back up after being beaten over the head, I also don’t think anyone would have stayed in line had he’d been the one attacked because he’s just a kid. The main reason? Neegan specifically said that if anyone reacted like Glenn did and tried to get out of line he’d cut out Carl’s eye and feed it to Rick. I just don’t see him threatened to cut Carl’s other eye out if he was going to beat him to death regardless. And to top it off, Carl and Neegan’s bonding in the comics is what brought about the demise of the Saviors, that’s a HUGE plot line in the comics, sure it could be obtainable without Carl (have another character fill in the spot) but it’s unlikely.
Maggie: Not Likely.
Why? As Neegan said, she doesn’t look too good so why not just “put her out of her misery”. The majority of the group was caught because they were trying to get her help, so what better way to punish them then by killing the one they were trying to save. Plus Glenn acting out because of Maggie’s life being threatened, might pin a target on her head more.
Why not? She’s weak. If she doesn’t get a doctor, she’ll probably die so why bother beating her? It wouldn’t send that big of a message across to take out the weakest of the group. Maggie is supposed to become a huge leader in the comics and she’s already being set up to become one in the show, so it’d be wasted story line to build that up, just to kill her off now. And back to the beating part, there’s no way she wouldn’t collapse the second she was hit with the condition she is in.
Daryl: Possible.
Why? He was the first person to kill any of the Saviors and he pissed off Dwight. He’s one of the stronger of the bunch (granted he’s injured at the moment), he’s a huge fan favorite, been around since season 1 and would cause an uproar/shock if he were the one killed off. He also doesn’t exist int he comics, so he could die at any point. Norman also just signed a deal with AMC for another series so he might have conflicting schedules but I’ve also heard it’s only 6(?) episodes long so that might mean nothing.
Why not? Again, he’s injured. He could easily die of infection or blood loss so why kill him now by beating him? He did save Dwight at one point. And Dwight did say “you’ll be fine” after shooting him. I’m also not positive AMC wants to kill of Daryl, even if it would cause a huge shock, simply because of how big of a fan favorite he is and people saying they’ll riot if he’s killed off.
Michonne: Very likely.
Why? She and Rick just started a relationship and if the Saviors/Neegan realized it, she’d be a good choice to kill and hurt Rick with. She’s another one of the stronger ones of the group and she didn’t show much fear. She’s become a fan favorite. And all of Rick’s ladies seem to meet demise.
Why not? They did JUST kill off Rick’s other love interest, so it’d be kind of ridiculous to kill off his new one right after the last one. She’s definitely got leader qualities, so Neegan could view her as a good source to keep Rick and the others doing his bidding. There hasn’t really been any “hints” that she’d be the one to die and the writers specifically said there were hints/clues.
Rick: Nope.
Why? He’s the leader. Been around since season 1. Would cause the biggest shock value and surprise.
Why not? He’s THE main character. TWD literally revolves mostly around Rick, I can’t see them ever killing him off unless it’s the very last episode. Rick was pretty broken and realized he just fucked up big time, he’s being punished enough in knowing that there’s nothing he can do, he walked his people into this, and that someone’s going to die because of him. Killing the leader wouldn’t exactly keep the people in line and Rick is the one with the most impact on his people.
