Team Tawsha @ovariancancercanada #walkofhope ⠀⠀ 🦋2018 👫 44 registered walkers in Edmonton + 10 Saskatoon walkers⠀⠀ 🦋2019 👫 85 registered walkers + 17 @perfectstormathletics cheerleaders takes my total over 💯 ⠀ ⠀ #goalachieved 🙌🏼🏆👭👬⠀ My goal of 100 was just a high number, I didn’t think for one second I would/could achieve. But I through it out to the universe anyway 💫 So glad I did. The way I see it, having 100 walkers speak to at least 5 friends about Ovarian Cancer and our “Walk of Hope” this past weekend.. we’ve reached over 500 people with just my group. Now that is AWARENESS!!! This is the snowball effect and THIS is how we change the statistics. ⠀ ⠀ Set your goals high and when obstacles get in your way, observe them, acknowledge them, THEN CRUSH THEM, climb over them, go around them, dig a hole right through them.. never stop believing in the POWER of YOU. ⠀ ⠀⠀ Thank you to everyone that made it out yesterday. Please know that YOU being there DOES make a difference and shows us fighting that we’re not alone in our fight. 💙💚⠀⠀ #walkofhope #ovariancancercanada #ovariancancer #nowomanwalksalone #youcandohardtbings #setgoals #Obstaclesarejustobstacles #theycanonlystopyouifyouletthem (at Kinsmen Park Edmonton) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2MhHprALdD/?igshid=anui6sugusgo

➡️ scroll to see pictures of our our hope. ⠀ Today I was honoured to speak at the @ovariancancercanada #walkofhope⠀ ⠀ In Jan 2018 I was diagnosed with stage 3b Ovarian Cancer. As a family we were shocked.. I had no symptoms and had just been 7yrs cleared of a different cancer, so how could this be real? Surgery, then 5 months of chemotherapy, followed by 9 months of a maintenance chemo. Three months later at my first followup, we learned that my cancer was back. How could it have returned so soon? I was eating healthy, exercising daily, living my healthiest me. So in June I’ve been back on chemo since June and will continue until October.. take a two month break then back on some kind of treatment. ⠀ ⠀ When Ovarian Cancer comes back we’re no longer considered curable. We are buying time until research finds our magic potion to cure us.. or extend our months. ⠀ ⠀ Currently there are no immunotherapies approved in Alberta for ME. I’m told, statistically if MY treatments are working I might get 2 years left of life and if they’re NOT working, I’ll be lucky to get a year. I fully understand that these are just stats and that anything is possible, so I refuse to accept these stats as my own!⠀ ⠀ I am a mom, a wife, a biz owner and I want to live. Cancer can NOT take my love of life and my determination to live. I will continue to fight until I find my cure or the cancer takes me but I WILL NEVER GIVE UP. ⠀ ⠀ This walk is about connecting on a deep, human level filled with love and support to hold each other up in our times of weakness. IT’S ANOUT FINDING A CURE FOR THIS DEADLY DISEASE. It’s about putting a face to this disease and screaming from the top of our lungs that WE MATTER. ⠀ ⠀ We are advocating, not just for ourselves but for all the didn’t make it and for those yet to be diagnosed. This is for our mothers, our sisters, our daughters and granddaughters. ⠀ ⠀ Today we joined hands and walked or ran to fight for all women.. to change the statistics. We all gathered today because we have HOPE. Because we know we can’t fight this alone and because we need to create awareness and become the squeaky wheel. We want to LIVE!! ⠀ #iamalive #areyoualive #hope (at Kinsmen Park Edmonton) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2LCnorgla1/?igshid=1bf4ucrvaq0v9
