Hey if you dont mind could you explain how you visualize where to put shadows? Cos they way you shadow stuff 12/10💙
Oh geez, That’s not something I’m very good at putting into words, but I’ll do my best!!
First of all this tutorial is something that helped me out a LOT so I want to emphasize VALUE CONTROL: (follow the link to the original in case tumblr murders this image |D)
Basically it’s learning how to use very subtle changes in value inside the areas where light hits as well as in the shadows. Op of this tutorial explains it rather well so I’d absolutely recommend reading all of the image!
As far as my own shadow placement, I simply envision a light source and denote it on the page so I don’t forget, and outline my shadows. This is where observation is the only remedy to knowing how the body or object exist in 3D space so I recommend refs! (and studying this book helps a ton too!)
Account for your reflective light to really sell the look and...that’s mostly it |D I’m not very good at explaining this myself, it mostly comes down to close observation and knowing what creates the shapes of the body ^^;;; I hope this was mildly helpful to you!! ;w;)/
