The Taxi Wallet

Here’s a short review on the Taxi Wallet made by Alicia KIein Brands.

Needing A Wallet

I was looking for a new wallet so receiving this in espresso leather was a nice surprise. The quality of the leather is good, it's not fine Horween or Italian leather, but I don't have any concerns about the quality or stitching. It should hold up for years.

What Can It Hold?

A little or lot. Some stuff their taxi wallets Costanza style, but I prefer to use it as an uber organized minimal carry piece. 

Bills and Receipts

Two bill slot in the main compartment connect by a snap closure. I like to use the bottom flap for bills and the top for receipts, or sometimes I keep all my crisp Benjamins sorted separately in the top flap (that never happens).

Coins and Cards

The front flap of the wallet also has snap closure and creates a pouch to store coins along with a little back flap for cards. I keep 2 cards (license and debit card) in this space, but it can hold more. (I would say up to 4 comfortably and 8 uncomfortably). FYI: The bill compartments previously mentioned could also double as card holders.

Top Slot

I didn’t do a good job photographing the quick access top slot though it’s a really cool feature. Here’s a better visual. I like to swap cards in this slot depending on the moment. Going to the gym, insert gym card. Panera bread, insert coupon card. Grocery store card. Hotel room key. Get the idea? It’s also a good place to fold and quickly store receipts.

How to Carry

The taxi wallet can, of course, be carried in a pocket or bag. Another option is to split the bill compartment and wear it over your belt. Let your shirt hang over the wallet and it’s rather inconspicuous. I’m still experimenting with this method. I like that it frees up my pocket and becomes extremely easy to access the contents.

As a minimal carry wallet it’s still 4 leather layers thick making it somewhat bulky in my pocket

At 3.5 inches wide it’s a little snug getting in and out of the front pocket

Coins sometimes slide up into the card slot
