130 years ago today Wallis Warfield was born. And then after living about a thousand lives, on her 66th birthday gifted her husband, The Duke of Windsor, this photo of herself.

In "Windsors at war" Alexander Larman quotes David's letter to Churchill from the 10th of November 1942:

"The duke believed this to be timely and deserved, and again attacked his brother’s actions as an ‘unwarranted step... taken... when any action calculated to build up the King’s position was considered justifi able, even to the extent of hitting at me where I was most vulnerable, which was to insult the lady who had consented to become my wife’".

Even though I don't like Larman's trilogy (he hates WE with the same strength I adore them), I think about this letter A LOT. Just imagine, you're 48 y.o. FORMER KING who abdicated the throne to marry the woman you loved and basically gave up all your previous life for this marriage. And after 5 years of marriage, in the letter to the PRIME MINISTER you don't write "duchess" or "wife" or "Wallis" or at least "the lady whom I married/who married me". No, you write "the lady who HAD CONSENTED TO BECOME MY WIFE".

THE level of devotion & adorationis is just INSANE, David's like the most romantic man of his century😭😭
