I was offered a job before I had even graduated high school from one of the companies we took a field trip to, in my career and education class…..

But I never even truly considered it bc it was a long drive from where we lived and we were so poor. It seemed completely impossible and implausible. We didn’t have a car, I had never even seen my mom drive before, so forget about me learning to drive!

Just like college, it was way too good to be true, and I had never allowed myself to even think it could happen. I never bothered to fill out any college applications or apply for any grants or scholarships. I just went to school my whole life knowing I was never gonna go off to college. Since I learned what it was, I refused to consider any possibilities.

I didn’t think about the future at all, ever, because for as long as I can remember everyday has been about survival. I watched my mom live in survival mode all my life, and that was all I knew.

I didn’t even have reliable WiFi or power in general at home.

But now I know that those were all just excuses, of course. I could have went to college if I really wanted to. I would have gone into a lot of debt but poor ppl go to school all the time.

Not to hate on TikTok for no reason but the trends where you film someone's reaction to whatever dumb trend without them knowing it's gonna happen is so stupid. And if anyone comes up to me filming me clearly doing some stupid trend I'm gonna be so pissed I'm gonna lecture them on privacy and threaten to sue. Also tear their trend a new one if I figure out what it is.
