OH BOY OH BOY.

I am Mohabbot pilled for SURE. I was talking to my sister who just finished the show and telling her how the actors confirmed that Abbot was being flirty with Mohan during the pigtail catheter scene, and she was like “well that’s a pretty big age difference” and I was like dreamy sigh, ain’t it great? Age difference is IN, baby. I also could see a compelling argument for Robby/Abbot (/Mohan, though Robby/Mohan on its own doesn’t work for me, but so far my favorite Pitt fic I’ve read is the OT3 one where they crash land on a deserted island, so). And of COURSE Robby/Collins. Mel/Langdon is something I enjoyed while watching, but I haven’t spent much time thinking about fannishly since, y’know?

There aren’t many ships where I’m like HELL NO, but some just don’t interest me, like Robby/Whitaker. I do love that this fandom will just be like “I think Shen/Javadi would be fun” and then there’s a whole corner of AO3 for it. (But can we stop asking the actors about shipping, Jesus Christ Almighty, I don’t care what Shabana thinks about it)

I just don’t think Rob Marshall fundamentally understands the source material for the musicals he makes and it comes through in the performances he directs as well.

I like his version of Chicago (though admittedly I've never seen the stage show, so I have nothing to compare it to) but I've heard nothing but bad things about Nine- even my dad, who has a huge crush on Penelope Cruz, couldn't get through it- and Into the Woods was so . . .bland. I keep using that word, but it's honestly the only one I can think of. It was too normal to be Burton-y (though you could see the influence, especially in Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters) and too dark to be Disney (literally as well as figuratively- TAKE THAT GOD DAMN BLUE FILTER OFF THE CAMERA) and the end product was something that tried to appeal to everyone and ended up pleasing no one. It was like Once Upon A Time without the camp, Nightmare Before Christmas without the heart or the humour, and Company of Wolves without the psychological complexity. Just a bunch of pretty people wandering around the woods singing pretty, meaningless songs.
