It was an accident, he knew, but, perhaps one he was satisfied by anyway. It had done what it needed to do, allow Sam and Bucky to keep fighting. As they were distracted by that he quietly slipped back from the action, his shirt being stained with a darker color as blood coated it, staining down from his chest to his side by the time he had gotten a perfectly good distance away from the fighting. This was certainly for the best, he told himself. Though he still had some work to finish, it was not like he had not left others who he hoped could manage to do it, without him. Leaning back against the outside wall of a building nearby, he cupped a hand over the wound and dropped down, thinking of Heike and Carl then.

His head leaning back, eyes closing as he could swear he was hearing their voices, his breathing becoming more difficult for him. Helmut grins, almost happy that he could be free from all of this, finally. All he had wanted, was to see them again. Even if this were only some trick his mind was playing on him as it was struggling to get oxygen, Helmut would dismiss the logic, focusing on what had always mattered to him in the end, his family. His hand fell from the bullet wound in the side of his chest as he passed out a moment later.

Raife hadn't even bothered to give the bruises attention, personally. Though as she asked he looked himself over a little bit, before giving a shrug "I suppose you can say that someone was not very happy with me, today." That was all he needed to say, a small grin formed over his lips "Be sure, that whoever gave these to me, is far worse off. That can be assured."

Offering a kind of amused smile, or a hybrid between a smile and a smirk, more so Finnian hopped up a bit, a bolt of excitement running up his spine as he watched her. She was, interesting, to say the least. Yes. There was something special about this earth woman. Something unique, and powerful. As she was talking to him, he continued to key into her, feeling her energy, chaotic, strong, attaching itself to his own. Leaning in, Finnian gently tapped his nose to hers as she was talking, then nuzzled into it a little more, closing his eyes and full on grinning, cutely, if one could imagine. Before he caught himself "Oh. I- Don't know why I did that..." The alien muttered, starting to pull away from her face.

He found it hard to sleep, even now. It was always the same. As he was getting comfortable with it again, the traumatic nightmares would increase, moving from his waking world into the dreaming one. Hearing her, he tiredly looked over from where he had been reading his book "I am here Wanda." Helmut assures her, putting the book down a little, he moves to get closer to her, reaching her hand to hold hers, a survivor, like him.

But she had been through so much more, from Hydra and those American's. Those heroes. Who took everything from them so here he had been, awake, when she had needed him "It is difficult, it will be another year soon since-" He stopped, thinking quietly "It gets harder around this time of year. No matter how much time has passed."

He could feel it, clawing at his throat. Before he knew it he had been on the floor, pain erupting in his chest. Everything else happened as he mentally put himself anywhere but there, at that time. In that space. After hearing Wanda's voice, however, he came back into himself, out of breath, trembling and feeling strange, still. James focused on the others form, feeling almost in an absolute, that he was finally not alone.

Reaching up his right hand, he almost did, but his current state had gotten the better of him. His hand formed into a fist, shaking along with the rest of him " I can't. I can't- I-" It wasn't safe. Turning, he thought something was still after him, that this right here was just another trick. Stepping back, he stumbled back toward Wanda, his chest heaving. James' eyes flicked around searching for ghosts that weren't even there "They're dead." They were, all of them, no one was going to come and take him back. He glares, reminding himself of that, again and again.

Pressing his head into the the pillow, he refused to look at her, at her demanding. What was she bothering him about, now? Za gave himself another moment of rebellion before finally turning his head and glancing toward her "Is there something you wanted? I'm very busy at the moment, as you can see. Why must I talk with you? There is nothing to say, is there?" He was having such a nice sleep, for once. He hadn't planned on cutting his heart open today, at the very least.
