She was angry at his words, his generalization of the heroes that did as they could for people. It wasn't perfect and when he spoke of what happened in Sokovia and Ultron, her eyes almost shifted to red but she calmed herself to speak once he'd finished. "You draw so many generalizations of the people who were the Avengers. I never spoke to my father much after he created Ultron. My real father created a machine called Brainiac System and it became like Ultron predicting the moment our world would be no more.

Because my world didn't want to believe what Brainiac said, they ignored the signs. My father didn't and he prepared, but not for everyone for me. He placed me in a ship and he sent me away. I watched my entire world, not just my family but everything I'd ever known be destroyed because of selfish men. Do you think I don't understand where you come from. I went to your home and did nothing but move people out, I saved over half of that place on my own and I didn't destroy a single building. "So when you speak of heroes, Helmet, you need to stop putting all of us together. We each choose what we do and that is on each of us and I can never forgive Tony. Even if I wanted to, he's dead. Natalia, my best friend, dead."

She sighed, knowing she was too worked up and that it was only going to make the situation worse. She listened to more he had to say. She had another knee jerk reaction when she said he wanted all the superhumans dead but she didn't think he knew just how many were being born in this time. There had been so many more than there was just 10 years ago but she didn't want to give that away. Maybe this had been the wrong choice, and she couldn't help but nervously run her fingers over her palm. Finally after some time, she looked up at Helmet and just nodded. She didn't want to argue with him anymore and she knew that antagonizing him wouldn't get what she needed done.

It had taken her so long to gain permission to take him from the Raft and before all of this, she'd decided to not return him. She would let him find his own way once more and if he ended up back in the Raft, well that would be on him. Now, she realized that if she did, he would just continue to kill those who just want to help the world. She sighed. "I don't want to make you do anything you do not want to do, Helmet but I also cannot let you out if you intend on killing the very people that we're going to need for what is coming. There is so much more I didn't tell you but what good will it do if you cannot work with those you will need. This threat is more than me, more than all the heroes put together and if we don't stop it, the world as we know it is gone. It won't matter if buildings fall or people rise up from the ash. There will be no ash to rise from."

Kara raised her hand so that the guard would come over. "Let him out. I'm taking him with me. I've signed all the papers I need to." The man nodded and at Kara as he used the key to open the glass door. "We should get going I only had so long that I could be down here before the president will rethink the treaty and just put me in because I'm not human." She chuckled but it was dark, almost sinister. "But of course how much can you trust any president when the man in the cell next to you was a president and a superhuman as well."

He could tell she was angry by what he had said. He didn't have to tell. Most did not like what he had to say. They had trouble hearing what he was saying. He had to wait, however, to see what she was perhaps having trouble hearing. Reaching his hand up, he touched it again to the bruising on his face, grinning a bit at how much people could misunderstand. Their reaction to being wrong, in here, this so-called prison, was also one driving reason for those who sought power and control, being on Helmut's hit list.

As she spoke of her home world and of what had gone wrong, he hummed a bit before he let her finish. Once she had, he pulled his hand from his face. “Yes. Well, Kara, I wasn't, perhaps, anywhere near being alive, or around that area at the time. If you have any grievances with this Brainiac thing, killing all of your people and destroying your planet. I'd advise you take it up with…it.” He teases a little, grinning impishly. Then he glanced away, “It is not that I do not think you understand. It is that I think you are trying to excuse a wrong, you, yourself, would enact revenge upon. Because you love those, I do not. Why should I be made to forgive those who use the corpses of my people and family, to look better to others? If the culprit behind your planet and biological family and people still lives, still be gloating about his acts that ultimately contributed to that tragedy, right in front of you.” He gestured to the TVs hanging around, praising heroes for their work.

“And if you were called a villain for avenging, what was done. When those who make promises to stop that, are the one's that did it. Would you not go a little bit mad?” He inched closer to the glass, “You think you would still choose differently? And Walker, did he, choose differently? Maybe some men just cannot be saved by doing nothing at all. Maybe that's why your planet is gone. Good-Uh. Kryptonians sat around, hoping for the best. And where are they now, not here? But you are. Ah, but you were perhaps too young to help all of that, then.” He waved a hand.

“How about I propose this, if, someone came for your dog or your child, accidental or not. Could you really say, you understand me now? You may have loved ones, and they may be lost to you now. But my son, was not lost. My son, was taken. He was killed because of Anthony Stark. His actions, which he has not at all faced the actual consequence of. I understand you, Kara, I'm not arguing that you do not understand me. I am just confused how you can stare me in the eye, and expect any different response than to make those pay for what they have done. I'm telling you, the pain I am supposed to be in, is because of those you grieve, giving it to me. This evil that I am, is born from your friend's actions."

"So forgive, if you find my lack of empathy upsetting to you. But I feel nothing for those you care about, in the same way you have. To me, your friends are killers, just like me."

But he had hashed this time and time again, with her, with everyone. No one ever seemed to hear what he was saying. Kara and him were friends, he was a useful asset. But he was still just a man, driven mad and to do awful things, because of awful things that had been done to him, to his family. He didn't want to be good, he didn't want to be evil, either. He wanted to be dead. But he wanted to leave the world better than how it currently was. Less hero worship, perhaps, even more co-existence, and helping everyone, without some being made idols over others.

Perhaps he just sees heroes as something different. He grew up with Captain America, and old heroes like those. His father once had worked on the same project that lead to the creation of Captain America, until he was exiled from it, becoming the first leader of Hydra in the process. Another wrong the Stark family had done to his family. Of course, his father's leadership was lost when the Red Skull and Zola stole it when he was still only a child. Helmut was threatened, and his father loved him, then, and so gave up almost all leadership roles, becoming a puppet, and then the lead scientist.

Soon enough, Captain America had come, his father was grievously injured, with a mask being melted to his face, in the fight that followed. Thus, he was driven mad from the exchange. From those days on, Helmut was subjected to severe mental and physical abuses by his father, so heinous that his mother had run from home, and died months later in a car accident. Staring at Kara from his cell, he grinned. If she understood him, she would know why he chose the stance he had. Why heroes to him seemed to be the most opposite of the word. Outside of his father's maddened ramblings against them. Because all his life, all heroes had done was bring ruin. They took everything from him.

Helmut only wanted the scales balanced in return, no heroes, just people, doing heroic things. Was that really so villainous, and so evil of him? Sure, he had to kill some people, people who deserved it. He was not a hero, his actions were not heroic. He was a consequence. The answer to “Who punishes the heroes for their crimes?” No one, until him. Helmut glanced away, listening to Kara talk of those she had lost, “They took my mother, when I was a child, crushed under rocks. Stole her from me, and then got her killed in a car accident. I was just a child, and I did not understand. Why my mother? Hm? Why my father? Why my son? Why my wife? Yes. There's no answer. There's no consequence. I have to watch. Year after year, after year. Those who took these people from me. Be praised for their heroic actions. While my entire family, my friends, my combatants, my country, rots, and is forgotten on grounds that I can no longer go to.” Sure, that was his fault, but he had hoped to be dead by now, so he really had nothing planned for this bonus level.

“It is sad, you lost your friends. Who killed my family. Or played a part in their deaths. I am very sorry to you, Kara. They are, all, culpable in these horrors, however. Do you understand what that means? I cannot take away, what was done, and make them do the things they chose not to? All I am able to do, Kara, is see that my family, my wife and son, my mother, who were innocent, did not die for someone else's vanity.” He turned away a bit, staring at the ground, “I am sorry, that it is your friends who played that hand. If it were not, I would not hate them so. But that is the reality here. Your friends all played a role in what led to the deaths of my family. There is no walking that back, Kara. I also did not kill any of them.” If he were being honest, he would have hoped, no. He would have guessed they would do exactly as they had done, up till this moment. To kill themselves.

He was just giving them a nudge in the right direction, or he supposed in Kara's perspective, the wrong direction. Seeing as he was portrayed as a villainous man for the heroes coming to his country and destroying it, and his reaction to that, not being to 'talk it out'. They were already far past the talking phase when Anthony showed up at a presser to tell them about how he was only doing, just to get home. It was like Anthony has spit a mouth full of lemon juice in an open wound, seeing this press just after the death of his fucking child! His child didn't get to go home! His child was dead and buried because of what Anthony Stark had done!

Helmut glanced over toward Kara, swallowing. He didn't think he could kill these people, of course. But they were doing a bang up job, now that he had shown the world, bringing them down was not only doable, but necessary, if need be. And need, be. He sighed at her comment, “They do not have to give me a reason to kill them? How about that? As long as that is doable. I do not want to kill those who are doing good. I want to kill those who do good, and bad, and face no repercussions for their bad? I am no murderer.” He grinned a bit, maybe that was a bit of a lie, “Well, not for no good reason.”

He pauses, for the dramatics, “Unless, you believe, my son, did something deserving of his death?” Helmut asked. Sure, he was using his son's death as an excuse to be a murderer. But also, his son was innocent, and didn't deserve to die, and he wasn't going to let anyone forget his son did nothing to deserve to die, for one mans vanity. Kara could try and make him sympathize with her losses all she liked, but her losses played a hand in his son's death, and he was feeling psychotic from that, “I'm perhaps too evil, and too psychotic to tell you that your friends deserve to live, Kara. Because I do not think they do. But I will, not, kill them. Though, it is my understanding, some of your new friends want me dead. So, perhaps, you should focus on sharing that with them? Fair is fair, and all that.”

“I work well with everyone. Mr. Walker practically gave me brain damage one of the last times I had seen him. Word is, he has gotten worse.” Sucking on his teeth, he glanced to one side, “And James, tsk tsk tsk. Well, he is still not happy about being a means to an end. Also, he sent me away with those lovely warriors who kept threatening to kill me. Who had me in Wakanda for a while. Let me tell you, maybe they should have paid more attention to those jurisdiction laws.” He giggled lightly, “Anyway, I am not the enemy here, Kara. I have my reason for why I do not like many of those you associate with. You know this. I should not have to be made to forgive any of them. Just as James should not be made to forgive me. I do not want forgiveness, anyway. I want revenge. All those I want revenge from are currently absent. So I suppose, we are good, yes?”

He glanced away. He did like James, a contradiction walking to what he had seen of these supersoliders in the entirety of their creation. Something went wrong in the correct way with James. Perhaps it was that lack of ego and vanity that made him different. James wanted to hide and still save others. Currently in the most mundane and normal way. Being a congressman was excessively boring. But it was something other than building AI in your basement against the law that destroyed a country! Helmut looked at Kara before the guards that came to the cell. As it opened, he just stood for a moment before glancing around, then back, making eye contact with a camera in his cell. On the back of his head was some kind of small connector implant. Then he turned his head back to Kara quickly, “Alright! Let us get going then.”

The quicker he was away from RAFT, the better! He couldn't stand another round in those simulations they often kept him in. To 'reform' him. Helmut is too strong to completely fall for the simulation's lies. Helmut moved toward her as she was talking, nodding his head slowly at her words, “Treaty. President. Betrayal. Understood. Can we leave now?” Staring at Kara as she seemed to be amused by that bit of darkness, “I do not understand, but sure. Yes. That would be quite interesting. But not unheard of?”

Erik could see the familiarity forming on the younger woman's face. He knew it could reach her, if he was the one to speak to her. That was his greatest advantage, here. Though she had been a friend to her family, long before all of this started. So he felt a connection with her, more than just seen as another asset to his cause. However, his cause was far more significant than it usually appeared to so. His methods, however, violent, were what worked for him. As she answered him he nodded "Yes. Don't we all." Erik commented in return. Because it was true, their people were robbed, both their Jewish, and Mutant kind, of a future that would forever change them. Erik swallowed lightly "You were, but you don't have to live like that anymore. I've come to bring you home, to your true home, Kassa, with your real people." He tells her, gently. Though she was not so gentle, he had known a long time now just how capable she truly could be. As the same experiments were done on him, too, for the most part. As Kassa spoke on again, he nodded, listening to her before he leaned back in the chair he was sat in "Yes. I know very well what you have been through. What you are capable of. As well as who hurt you and stole you from us. I was there, too, after all. "That is why you should stay with us, there is a place for you. A need for you. Our people would need someone like you." He replies "If you want, of course. But I think you will find a way to live your life, there. You can figure that out."

There were a million things going through her mind as she listened to him speak of his past, her past the things going on around them. She'd always put Hydra first but a part of her longed to put her people first and until someone stopped those in power, mutant children, like the two of them would continue to suffer.

"I would like to have a home where I know that I'm not being used as a weapon against those that are close to my heart. You were once very close to my heart." The words were said flatly as though just stating fact, not speaking of matter of her heart. She'd been taught to separate her feelings so well that even saying it felt against her own nature.

Kassa nodded with almost a smile on her lips. "I think I should stay here because even if I was to be brought back as an asset, at least if I am here, I know there are those that could keep me from hurting others till I could be back to who I'm trying to be now."

She looked down for a moment, before reaching into the small pocket on her jeans. A small charm on a gold chain was no in her hand as she looked at it. For the first time a real smile came to the front, small dimples show it was genuine. "It was something I held onto. For years it was in a small wrapped box, a bow tied to the top. I remember it being handed to me before we were separated from our parents and as they took the two of us somewhere else.

"After you were calm, you said for me to open it when we were out... or something my memory is still quite fuzzy... words people say are always the last to come back, the feeling behind it comes first. Yesterday, as I was sitting on the bed trying to figure out what was going on, I pulled it from my bag where it had always been and unwrapped it. This necklace was in it... Why did you get this for me? Were we that close even before the camp?"

Reaching out his hand, he rests it on the surface of the table between them, lightly. Then, drumming his fingers, he listens to the other speak. It was easy to manipulate those who thought as she did. Not that he intended to manipulate her, perhaps. However, some needed a gentle nudge in the right direction to get things started. He eyed her, nodding his head slowly, then. She was not that same little frightened girl anymore. A part of her had died. Much like a part of him had died, watching many of his family, personally, be executed in front of him. As well, his own attempted execution by the very same who killed his family.

Erik continued drumming his fingers as Kassa spoke on. Now a smile formed over her lips, in contrast with the thin vacancy of before, in a way. Tilting his head a little, “Yes. There is that.” He agreed. Not really sure what more to say to this, that wouldn't turn her away from the cause. Of course, his cause always being the same, that Mutants have rights. Not exactly rights over humans. But, if that had to be the case, he wasn't opposed to such a notion, as long as his kind were no longer hunted down and slaughtered for being what they were, especially those against their own wills. No one asks to be born. Especially to be born a mutant. Then to be hunted for that disturbing difference that the average humans found in this.

Had it not been for his history, he may, perhaps, have not decided humans could suffer in the trade of mutant rights. This all could have been so much easier, yet, humans, were infinitely idiotic about their seats of power. It was not the average human he had a problem with, however, but those who made laws to hunt his kind, to murder his kind, to cage and use his kind. This woman he had known most of his life was no different from any other victim.

Perhaps, he had push Xavier too hard, back then. When they were testing the mutant children in the labs. But that was in the past, now, and yet, he would still strive to change Charles' mind, make him see that restraining his people. Their people, have caused this fighting between the two people. But he was not a man of peace, and so, he didn't care to make it, as much as he cared to make sure his people lived.

Observing Kassa as she moved to reach into her pocket, he raised an eyebrow when she removed her hand with a charm now in it. He turned his attention away, “Yes. I remember.” He nodded as she went on about the item. He was a child then, and had practically gained immortality in the time since, so it had been a very long time, so his memory was also fuzzy of this exchange. “Because-” He pauses, moving his hand that had stopped drumming now, back toward him, “Yes. We were close, and I cared a great deal about you. Loved you, then, even.” He said, bluntly. Looking toward the charm, he frowned. So many lives were ruined since that time, all because of his love. She was alive because of her being favored by those evil men. Then turned into this weapon. But now she had to be free and live a life she chose. “And what will you do with that information?”

"I mean, it's hard to find heroes anymore. Sam is going a direction he can't possibly expect to win. No matter who he gets from his team, villains are different now." She'd walked with the bad and the good at this point and found, after Thanos, the noble, those who would break no code, they would never survive. "Helmet in here did you hear about the latest being to be created?"

She looked up finally, a tired almost exhausted look upon her face. "Val's new project and if I'd been paying attention to the company and not trying to figure out what to do with everyone I care about gone... well I would have noticed that a company with Val associated with it runs. O.X.E., they rented the top of my tower." Kara couldn't help but laugh, trying to make light out of something she felt was her fault. Her father would have know, he was always so good at making sure both the company and humanity were protected... she wasn't Ironman or Tony Stark and she couldn't continue to compare herself to him.

"I'm not an Avenger anymore. I've done too many things I shouldn't have done to be one of them anymore. Bucky, Yelena and I found a way to help others but do it in a way that would work, over a way that followed the orders of others." She chuckled, "I thought maybe a man of your skills would be helpful. I keep an eye on what happens down her and making sure you know what's going on up top. It's not good.... and The VOID terrifies me. We need information about him, about the tests and since Val won't talk, I figured you could help us with that. You get a place at the tower, so it's got to be better than this place."

Giving a few nods of his head at her comment, he was sure this part didn't particularly matter to him. As he had already known Sam, and those who thought like Sam would come to understand, eventually, that that was not how the real world worked. Which is why Karli had to die. There was no other possibility that would have been the right way to deal with the situation. Sam's way was going to lead to multiple deaths. Helmut had to step in, he didn't care if that made him a villain. Letting out a breath, he turned his head. “Yes. Well, who could have possibly known that.”

As Kara moved on to Val, he nodded again. Val was more so a leech, but a very clever one. What Kara was telling him was not very surprising. But of course, Kara was making this all be on her shoulders. Staring at her as she said everyone she cared about was gone, he made a face almost to say, 'but did they die?' for the most part, no. All that Kara cared about were mostly still alive, else she would not be standing here talking to him. Helmut almost grinned, annoyed by how many of those who gave him the title villain or evil, did not know, or did not care, what made him that way. So many spoke to or about him as if he did not know suffering, like they knew suffering.

But, he would say, he knew it better than any of them. Which is why he had to make the decisions he had made, “Of course. The top, you say. No no no. Tsk.” He said, not really sure where that concerned him, renting the top of the tower or an apartment to make a base of operations for a terrorist organization, even, wasn't exactly too interesting to him. Those things seemed to be pretty commonplace, just about anywhere one went these days. Hell, he was already talking about how this sort of thing was going to happen with all this superhero nonsense. But, still, he was the insane one. He was wrong and needed to be punished.

All while cheering on the wanton destruction that these heroes wrought while 'saving the day', it was frustratingly amusing. He blinks at Kara, not exactly amused with her laughing, how could he be? His son was still dead, and here he was, locked in a cage for delivering proper judgment upon those who made sure that death was possible. As well as those who would facilitate, many more such deaths would happen. As Kara went on, he again nodded his head, “Just as well, I suppose. Not that there is such a difference between you doing the things you should not have done to be one anymore, and the Avengers also doing things they should never have done. For example, creating Ultron, and then excusing that creation as a mere 'accident' or disassociating it from Anthony, because he did not know that would happen.”

“Can you be sure any of you were ever on the side of good to begin with? Or were you all just playing hero while buildings crashed on the innocent around you? Hm.” He glanced away, not really sure what she was saying about this 'way it would work' business. To him, the way these things were going to work is that these superhumans stopped being bolstered and idolized, or romanticized as heroes. While the blood of the innocent still dripped off the fingertips. The best way to deal with such beings was to kill them. The best way to kill them was to make them kill each other. But still, to kill them.

Helmut narrowed his eyes a bit, “A man of my skills is useful. Because I am the only one thinking for the good of the people. Not the good of the cause, whichever that may be. People do like their causes.” He eyes her, as if to size her up, her entire reason for coming here was some other cause. Another day, another cause. Another moment to prove oneself above others. They called him awful things for not even remotely good reason. Yes, he was a killer. Yes. He was guilty of all he had done and would do. He had never denied these claims. But the other things he was called, he was not sure, were spoken by educated minds. Yet. He still wished to protect these people. From the ignorant to the brilliant. They had a right to live without the fear of a building falling on them.

As he listened more to Kara, he again let out a breath. “Is that amusing to you, Kara?” Raising his eyebrows, he turned his head, “That it is the same thing, just a different day? Of course, a man of my skills would be helpful. I am the only one fighting for the right reason, even if I must die in the process of that. I will, die, in the process of that.” That was always his plan, he would die, after seeing that his main mission was complete. He still had some work to do, “When the world is safe.” And rid of these superhumans, who claim they are heroes, and destroy cities. Or facilitate the means to create their own oppositions. Helmut giggled lightly under his breath, at the mention of Void, “This Void, being, is just another installment in something I have warned you all against, is it not?” Glancing up then, he resisted the urge to roll his eyes, “Very well, I will kill him for you.”

Kara hadn't really knew what to do after the group formed. She knew that even if the rest of the group trusted Bob, she didn't and there needed to be some balance to the way it worked. Helmet hadn't been her first choice to join but after a lot of debate, yelling and screaming at John and Bucky, she made it known that it was her tower and the tech they used was her fathers and her own and if they were going to continue to have Bob on the team, then she wanted Helmet.

It had taken time, but after a few days, the group agreed that although they were all considered villains, or the worst the world had to offer, they needed someone that understood the ins and outs of organaztions they'd be up against. Just like herself, they couldn't think of anyone else that would be better and they sent Kara on her way to retreive him.

Kara had been making calls for days and after a while, she had to eventually threaten to just break him out. When the general laughed at her, Kara's face straightened. I put the prison down there for you. If you won't let me in, I'll just bring it back to the surface and the world can see what you do to people who are different. No matter what they believed, people still thought you needed to have a fair trial and not one of these men had.

Now, as she stood in the dark room, glass cells around her, Kara thought back to her friends being locked down there and the memory of Steve and her coming to let them out made her smile a little before she saw the man she was there to liberate.

Kara sat down on a chair, her eyes fixed on him and then moving around the walls to see what he'd been doing. "Helmet. I didn't think I'd see you again so soon but here I am. I'm sure you knew I was coming. Did they tell you what it was about?"

He hissed a bit under his breath as a bruise on his face still seemed fresh and painful, as he tapped a finger to it. This place, this supposed prison he had been sentenced to, was nothing more than a torture camp. Most, if not all, of the other prisoners had a superpower of some sort, and plenty of the time within the prison was about power and structure. Outside of the authority stepping in, the prisoners often ran the prison within its walls.

Much like most prisons, as you can imagine, out of sight, out of mind. What the prisoners did, inside, often did not matter as long as they had stayed inside. Helmut was one of those who, because of his lack of power, often made him a target. Which was often a mistake, because those prisoners either were later found dead, or otherwise taken care of. As Helmut had plenty of capabilities that did not require the need for a superpower. These superhumans were a threat to humanity, after all. If not by their powers alone, then their surmounting lean into narcissism, and the like. The same that had ended with his family dead under half his country, now non-existent.

The excuses are never-ending. Even to this day, years later, years after he was momentarily broken out by James and Samuel, here he stood still, the bad guy. He didn't deny this, if that is what they wanted to call him. He did what he needed to do, and in the end, how many more lives was that destined to save? He did not regret it, if not for those ridiculous accords, of course. A guard who he had gotten much information from the outside on, or well, was able to access information from the outside on by some means or another, approached him, informing him of a visit, “Is that so? Soon. I expect. She is quite smart, that woman.”

When the moment finally came that he would be visited, he waited by his cell, narrowing his gaze slightly on Kara, “Oh. I thought we would. Thing are very bad out there.” Helmut risked grinning, amused. They thought they were heroes. That's what they weren't. But this, this new faction, was something else. Still, not what he would expect of someone coined a 'hero' or even 'idol', perhaps. “But here you are.” He raised his eyebrows a little, “Yes. They tell me you are now in a new team? Quite a strange one, seeing who is in it.”
