“Rex,” Ben clenched his teeth together, his palm hovering over the glowing watch-face of The Omnitrix. “This is your last warning. Last. Warning. All I’ve done before now is keep you in check, hoping you’ll stop and do the right thing-- but this time I’m not gonna hold back.”

To his right, Rook stood with his proto-tool in bolo-launcher mode, his finger itching on the trigger and eyes narrowed, hoping to at least slow the speedster down...

...and to his left, Kai twirled Excalibur, gleaming mystical steel held ready in both hands, eyes begging Rex to give her an excuse to let her give him some serious healing to do.

Behind the team of three heroes, Dr. Aloysius J. Animo lay sprawled and panicked, his gleaming skull-cap cracked nearly through, dangerously close to exposing his brain-- blood trickling from the corner of his mouth and both nostrils where Rex had already battered him several times-- “Stop him, Benjamin! Please! Just-- just take me to jail! I’ll go quietly! Just-- keep that madman away from me!”

Behind Animo, Sunny and Cash were strung up on the wall in crucified positions, glued in place by enhanced spider-web, unable to free themselves because of a dozen Chupacabra-packs networked together, sapping their life-force-- including Sunny’s mana --enough to paralyze them but not quite enough to kill them.

And before the heroes stood Rex Delarosa, clad in full antiheroic regalia, all voodoo and flames and fury...

...Dr. Animo’s blood on his knuckles and on his mind.
