Not a day had gone by since Len had agreed to room with this Abel guy that Len didn’t wonder if he’d made a mistake. Shit, he’d let a human live with him. After all these years, he should’ve realized what a danger that could be. If Abel ever caught him off-guard, his cover could easily be blown. He didn’t want to have to start over somewhere else again. He just wanted to live his life in peace. What had he been thinking?
The least he could do was try to win Abel over before that day came. Maybe, just maybe, if he somehow got Abel to actually like him, Abel might not want to out him or murder him for being a dragon. He didn’t know a damn thing about Abel, sure, but better safe than sorry, right? He grimaced internally thinking about it; he’d have to stop pushing people away just this once, and make himself more vulnerable in the hopes that it wouldn’t bite him in the ass. It was a desperate, crazy plan and he knew it, but what choice did he have?
“Hey,” Len announced his presence in the most mundane way possible, looming over Abel. He was trying (and likely failing) not to be intimidating for once in his life despite his colossal frame. “You doin’ anything tonight?” God he hoped Abel wasn’t busy. If he were, then Len’s plans were going to come crashing down and he’d have to find a new excuse to try and get Abel on his side.
