Halia's not used to people being so eager to know about her—granted, she hasn't let anyone this close in decades. She had been a little hesitant about being more open with Jack, but it was nice having a friend for once. "What a quick draw with the questions! Should I be worried? How many do you have primed in there?"
She puts down her burger and leans back, chewing her bottom lip in thought. Halia had been half joking before, but the temptation to skirt around his questions only crosses her mind for a moment before she shakes it off.
"It was a long time ago, but a childhood friend of mine got me into it. He had opened up a snazzy place and needed an act— I needed a job, so he did me a favour, I guess. What he really wanted was a... dancer." She hesitates on the euphemism, then muscles through it. "But with two left feet, he had to settle for my voice. I wasn't that good in the beginning. I was really shy. Now though?.... Yeah. Yeah, I think I'm doing it for the love of it."
"What about you?" She asks, selecting the crispiest-looking fry to dunk into her ketchup. "Are you chasing fame? Trying to make it big?"
