“Oh?” His response was slow, one thick, dark brow cocked with interest as he sauntered towards her. Close. Contemplative. Like a predator eyeing his next meal. On the Isle, he had been told countless times of how daunting it was to be at the receiving end on one of his stares, mostly because his fellow Isle scum knew better than to question whatever sort of threat it carried.

Of course, it rarely worked on the Auradon sorts, most of them too optimistic, selling themselves on the idea that their villainous counterparts were kinder than they made themselves to be. But old habits died hard.

He swerved out of the way of the fairy child at the last second, effectively dodging her before swaggering off to prop himself up against the stone wall of the gate of the school. It was warm against his back, heated by the sun - a quality he still wasn’t used to that made him shift to look back before shifting his bright gaze back to Jane. “Ye dinnae have to lie to me, wee bird. None understand bein’ bombarded by others, an’ still bein’ all by yer lonesome than us Isle type.” He paused. Laughed. His smile was bright, full of teeth and knowing, as he regarded her. “Ye dinnae think ah’d go blabbin, did ye? One way ‘r another, it dinnae matter t’ me.”

      “ oh- ah, hmmm- ” the sorceress pauses, mid-explanation, considering her options. she can continue to explain, in her usual disjointed way. which probably isn’t going to do either of them any good. “ it’s probably easier if i show you, ” she says, reaching out to grab jane’s wrist lightly. “ do you have an evil science lab here? ” nose wrinkles. “ or just a- science lab, i guess. ”

      mouth drops open slightly, and then closes in an attempt to regain at least a little of her dignity. “ wh- ” brows furrow tightly and it’s obvious to see that the undermining has gotten her feathers ruffled, but she can’t quite find the words to express it. “ why would you do that? ” she asks, finally, hands settled firmly on her hips. “ jane you know this has to be perfect! ”
