On the microsoft thing, what happens to my files and photos? Do they just transfer over?

I’m assuming that it’s just a straight upgrade and that none of your personal files are actually going to get touched at all. This isn’t going to be like a clean install, I don’t think. 

However, your best bet would be to head over to microsoft.com and ask them there.
