centering whiteness
I am getting kind of worn out talking/thinking about whiteness. We spend so much time in the US with white as the default race/culture, and so much energy talking about other people-races-cultures in opposition to whiteness, in comparison to whiteness, how X group relates to whiteness. Even when we are talking about discrimination and other negative issues, we center around whiteness and it seems like it gets all the attention. It's tiring.
I think that's why I have been getting so into certain kind of reading lately, that explores other races/culture that have whiteness included as an afterthought or not at all.
