@rsenak — abandoned houses/homes?
CW: war aftermath, burned homes, winter hardship
Dragon Age | New Bad Beginning (NBB)
Note: Abandoned homes do not always announce themselves with open doors and silence. Sometimes they are seen from a hilltop: too few columns of smoke, too much clean snow between buildings, roofs gone where roofs should be, rooms left open to the sky as if the house itself had forgotten how to shelter anyone. Redcliffe looks peaceful only from far away. Close enough, the snow is just a shroud. Abelas. Suledin.

The Cabin Exhibit (König x Reader)
is a multiple part story about love surviving where nothing else does. Set against the quiet aftermath of war.

Chapter Twenty-One: Depart and be at Rest
Summary:
"And Aragorn spoke in a loud voice to the Dead Men, crying: “Hear now the words of the Heir of Isildur! Your oath is fulfilled. Go back and trouble not the valleys ever again! Depart and be at rest!" 'And thereupon the King of the Dead stood out before the host and broke his spear and cast it down. Then he bowed low and turned away; and swiftly the whole grey host drew off and vanished like a mist that is driven back by a sudden wind; and it seemed to me that I awoke from a dream." -- The Last Debate, The Return of the King
As always, a HUGE thank you to @valandhirwriter for being her amazing, inspirational self and being a wonderful beta reader!
TW for further depictions of death (just because the battle is won does not mean the fight for life is over)!
Let's have some more Gondor siblings as this week's art recommendation (by anteikovitch over on insta), because I love these two so much and I will always love art of them together.

(Cw: war aftermath/healing from trauma)
--------------------
Caretaker was snapped out of his sleep by the sound of the phone. He lifted the receiver to his ear, still semi-conscious. On the other end, he heard a quiet, hesitant voice: "Hello...? Hello?"
(C:) "mmm? ....yea...? whosthere..."
(W:) "I'm sorry for interrupting"
Only then did he recognize the familiar voice on the receiver. Caretaker raised himself up on his elbow, startled. Whumpee rarely contacted anyone when it wasn't necessary.
(C:) "Oh, no. Not at all"
In the aftermath of the horrors of the war Whumpee experienced, he had trouble asking anyone for help, or keeping in touch at all.
(W:) "You were sleeping"
(C:) "Hm? Yes, I mean I was. But I told you I'm more than happy to talk if you ever need to. So I guess I'm just glad you reached out"
Caretaker gave the caller a moment to collect himself and say the reason for the conversation. But instead, silence fell on both sides of the phone.
(C:) "So what is it, Whumpee? You know, it's okay if you just called for no reason. We can find a topic"
Whatever happened, Whumpee simply wasn't in a place to say it out loud. Instead he asked:
(W:) "D-do you remember that song?"
(C:) "The song...? Oh, you mean the one you've heared in my radio you liked so much?"
(W:) "Mhm"
(C:) "You want me to sing it to you?"
(W:) "mhm..."
(C:) "Okay, so you need to keep the receiver close, I have to be a little quiet so my neighbours don't wake up"
Caretaker's voice was quiet, soft and soothing. When he finished, he asked what kind of song Whumpee would like to hear next.
Caretaker got no answer, only the sound of calm, deep breathing. Whumpee fell asleep hugging the receiver to his cheek.

Anonymous asked:
“When will Zuko realize that he and Azula can end both Fire Imperialism and Fire Royal Family Animosity?” It would probably take awhile. He spent so long casting (and being encouraged to cast) Azula in the role of main obstacle to what he wants even after turning away from Ozai. Even if, as per Bryke, he pitied her upon seeing her chained and sobbing, I’m not sure that translates into full comprehension of how she also suffered. (1/3)
Not helped by his Uncle dumping him, a traumatized 16 year-old with no training, on the throne. Zuko still has so much healing and growing left to do at the end of the series. Who knows when he’d get the chance to do so, when he know has a nation to run and deradicalize? (2/3)
The worst part is even if he does one day come to the conclusion that they can work together and offers, Azula could still be justified in rejecting him. Especially if her condition and treatment post-war were influenced by either Zuko’s resentment or lack of caring. (Like imprisonment, or throwing in an abusive asylum and never following up.) So, yeah. (3/3)
Anyway, still how things work on tumblr. I know this is the ask box, and if it’s inappropriate to use for a response like that, I won’t do so in the future. Or just get an account finally. (4/3)
Thank you for your insight Anon. I agree with you and I completely support you getting an account in the future. Oh and if it’ll help, you can submit your thoughts to other users through the submissions feature. I’m unsure if people without accounts can use it though (I didn’t even realize you can send asks without an account).
hi! would you happen to know of any drarry fics that take place right after the end of the battle? or at least start off that way? thanks so much!
