Sullivan’s military history fascinates me. There’s so much we don’t know about him as a character and it’s one area that I can’t let go of.
Three of his medals indicate that he was definitely on active service at one point (in France and Germany specifically), but he also has a non-operational service medal and one final one which I can’t identify. It just raises so many questions.
What was his service like? Which force was he in - Army, Navy, Air Force? What rank was he? Did he serve throughout the war? Was he injured? If so, was it a physical injury or a mental one? Did he suffer from shell shock/ptsd? Does the war still affect him? If he was injured, did he heal fine or does it live with him? And the mental effects, does he have nightmares? Flashbacks? Did he lose people on the front lines? Did he lose people at home? Does he talk about the war or does he never bring it up?
Why did he join the police force? Was he there during the war, perhaps if recovering from an injury? If not, how did he adapt back to normal life after the war? Was he in London during the blitz?
WHAT WAS SULLIVANS WAR LIKE????
