kind of a stupid question but: is this a coin or is it just designed to look like one? there’s a gap in the metal at the top of the head so it feels like it would have been stamped/embossed from a flat surface, and there’s a partially obliterated design on the back but i can’t find any coins that match it

Yes, but it's an altered coin! This is a repousse stamp on a 1914 US silver dime.

Okay so I usually try to keep it "PG" but yesterday I found out there's a bunch of really sexual roman coins, many depicting gay and lesbian scenes, and apparently no one is actually sure what they're for.
