Deadly Blast in Iran After Ceasefire: 14 IRGC Troops Killed in Zanjan Explosion
Despite the ceasefire, danger still lingers in Iran. A massive explosion in Zanjan has killed 14 members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) during a bomb disposal operation. Two others were critically injured.
Initial reports suggest the blast may have been caused by unexploded ordnance (UXO), such as cluster munitions or landmines left behind after recent airstrikes. These hidden explosives can remain active for years, making cleanup operations extremely risky—even for trained experts.
This incident highlights a harsh reality: wars don’t end when ceasefires begin. Thousands of unexploded bombs still threaten both military personnel and civilians, especially in residential and agricultural areas.
The situation is further complicated by rising global tensions. The Strait of Hormuz remains unstable, impacting global energy supply, while diplomatic talks between the U.S. and Iran continue to face deadlock.
