This portrait by Wade Myers depicts 22 year old Cy Gladen in 1943 climbing into his Curtiss P-40F Warhawk. Gladen earned the title of “Ace” and his awards include the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and 12 Air Medals. He returned to the states after 164 missions where he eventually retired as a P-38 instructor in 1946.
